My guess is the Montblanc marketing department may be doing market testing. Many food brands do this as well. I live in San Jose, which is a diverse community, so we sometimes see “pre-release” items for a month or two not available elsewhere. If feedback is positive, they ramp up production to do a national rollout. Otherwise they cut their losses by never releasing it or continue working to refine the product.

Wonder if Tonic flankers will just be called "Toxic" flankers, because they poison the fragrance line. Well, at least until Creed comes out with "Creed ahVert-us" and Jeremy Fragrance makes a video seeing if that fragrance can get more compliments than a box full of kittens. And the fragrance somehow wins. And then Creed reformulates it to smell like soapy vetiver, green Irish soap and old spice.

Met a guy during homeland security that told me he worked for a cola/juice company in Ohio, long story short he told us that when accidents happen during the mixing of ingredients for a particular pop/juice like the wrong color or flavor was added etc. He said its cheaper to print a new limted edition or limited time only label than dump a vat of product that is worth 200k once bottled. Anyway he went through a list of some of the products that were a result there of and it was really comical to find that out but made sense

Individuel Tonic by Montblanc is a Amber Woody fragrance for men. Individuel Tonic was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Pierre Bourdon. Top notes are Rosemary, Juniper Berries, Coriander, Cinnamon, Bergamot, Cardamom, Lavender, Pineapple and Mint; middle notes are Geranium, Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Violet; base notes are Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Musk, Vetiver, Patchouli, Vanilla, Raspberry, Dark Chocolate and Amber.

I just got this… it’s actually really nice! It some how drys down to the original individual whilst having a lot of fresh/greenness. Kinda like a mossy/fresh/sweet smell. Kinda unique & generic haha. But I got a compliment on first wearing

Ash ... I wanted your thoughts... I have a feeling that most fragrances sold at rack stores (tj maxx, ross etc) are all made by a couple multinational company (like COTY). They use branding/names of older fragrances but sell all reformulated watered down scents. So it is possible that Montblanc Individuel Tonic is not made by Montblanc and the reason why it smells so generic. ( I recently got Azzaro Chrome Legend and United from TJ Maxx, both recommended but they smelled nothing like reviewers and fragrantica claimed...and then I noticed the box said both was made by COTY not Azzaro.) Can you make a video on this topic or suggest brands to stay away from at rack stores?

I understand this video is 5 months old but I found out when was Mont Blanc Individuel Tonic released, the nose behind it, and all the notes in the fragrance: "Mont Blanc Individuel Tonic Perfume is a Woody Oriental fragrance for Men. Individuel Tonic was launched in 2018. The Nose behind this fragrance is Pierre Bourdon. Ash do you think these random releases are supply related? Are the shortages here in the US related to manufacturing any frags as well worldwide as far as what they can get their hands on? I was just thinking maybe Mont Blanc can't get some materials so made do with what they have/what they CAN get. But idk if other countries/continents are still facing shortages like we are, whether it's Covid related or not. Maybe they got a bunch of oddball materials cheap?

I think what they're doing is quite smart they know the fragrance community is very much online and the free advertising it gets from frag reviewers is probably more than mainstream advertising would appeal at this time of year, especially amongst the big hitters. Let's face it, if they did advertise these, who other than frag heads even know about the originals?
