I have both the MoonSwatch Mission to Mars and this PD 1701 v5. It is incredible that at 1/3 the retail price of the Swatch, you get a sapphire bezel, mechwa-quartz chrono, steel case and bracelet. The PD is a real watch and can be used as a tool. The MoonSwatch is ‘fun’ but can only be used as a toy.

@@cheesesalad5854 No it's the Seiko VK63 "mechaquartz". It's mainly quartz but the chrono function has some mechanical elements, the chrono hand ticks 5 times per second and it's reset is snap back. Thanks for watching 👍👍

they should have done this differently. this watch is really a dinner plate for most people. if they did the moonwatch reduced size it would have been far more wearable for most people. One of the criticism i had was everyone posting a wristshot of it look like the watch was just too big for them.

I'm sorry my friend but I have to disagree. The watch has a 42mm case but this is in part due to the assymetrical shape. In combination with the relatively short lug to lug length of 47.5mm, the case wears more like a 40mm watch. My father-in-law's wrist is only 6.25" but he owns this watch. He says it is comfortable and it does not look too big for him. Often when looking at videos on KZbin, watches can sometimes look a little bigger than they do IRL. Very nice watch Al. I have the no date V4 Mission to Uranus homage and it's great. I actually got the original Mission to Uranus in the Swatch store in Istanbul, there wasn't huge lines like other places but it did sell out and I can confirm the PD is so much better it's in a totally different league. The top pusher fell of my Swatch after only 3 days and lost on the street, the horrendously cheap crystal got a scratch from I don't know where and to top it all I got a blue coloured wrist! I actually got offered a replacement because of the leaching colour, but just took my money back. It was a good decision. Btw, the movement in the Swatch is a very cheap 1 tick per second Ronda that costs about $2 and the Seiko mecaquartz is immeasurably better too. Not sure if my V4 has a sapphire or ceramic bezel but it looks like it might be sapphire too. Either way it's better than the plasticky paper bezel stuck on to the original! Have to say I really like this one too. Excellent review as always. I may get one at a later stage, but I do highly recommend the watch. One thing, the lume though not great is slightly better than my far more expensive Orient Panda and Pulsar Solar. With the very thin hands to leave as much of the subdials visible as possible, you're never going to get diver bright lume anyway, so it's not disappointing really. I suppose it's more dress watch level lume than diver.

I have the black bezel version and it is unbelievable for the price, bracelet is lacking but for the money who cares. It’s going on a different strap anyway. Personally I think the black bezel version looks more professional with the red version a bit more fun.

The watch is surprisingly good. It seems to be of decent quality. Everything look nice and clean, there are no misalignment issues and the AR coating does a good job as well. They still use the diver's extension, right? These are terrible!

Mate they are 💩ing all over swatch😂 the quality here is crazy for the cash and I really hope they bring out the other colours a proper watch that won't dye your wrist or fall apart with quality materials for far less money 🤯😂 One thing I always have a problem with though is just give us the company logo, there's no need for a logo,the name and chronograph 🤷 great vid Al 😎👍

As far as Pagani goes there is nothing out there that matches the quality and value for money, my only peeve with the watch is the case back, it looks so cheesy like a kid designed it. I wish they would rethink this with a ceramic picture of a planet or something more fitting a watch of this design, that's my two cents anyway. As for it being an alternative to the moon swatch, there is no contest, just fix that back plate on the watch and they will have their answer. For example, how better that watch would have looked with a ceramic insert on the back of a picture of Mars, instead of that whatever they call it etched on the back? Just my thoughts.

Completely agree that this one is a great alternative. For me, the current design on the back looks intentionally whimsical but I definitely appreciate it won't suit everyone's taste. As it's on the back, hopefully, it won't be a dealbreaker for anyone, as it's one hell of a watch for the money. Maybe PD should have just played it safe and etched their logo on the back instead. As a gen Speedy owner, I wanted to buy the Moonswatch. However, when I had a closer look I decided not to buy it. It is a plastic cheap looking watch. For less than the value of the Moonswatch, I bought the PD1701 Silver/Black and the one in this video. Apart from the bracelet, they are great watches for the price. Together with my Seiko SSC813 Prospex, these 3 are my daily watches.
