Here is what would make Rings of Power cool and scary. Gandalf is like a 5th level Wizard with Heat Metal, Light, and other spells, no he doesn't have Magic Missile. Sauron might be a 7 or 8th level Wizard. Mid-Level Magic, but then enters a Lich, an 18th level Wizard with all manner of 4 to 9th level magic. Gandalf will say "Even as Gandalf the White I can't cast Limited Wish let alone a Wish spell. Meteor Swarm what is even that, I am barely dealing with shooting a bit of flames in a Burning Hands spell. How am I going to fight that. Don't tell me this Liche's name is Vecna and he has come through the Multi-Version to make Sauron his Beotch, one of his Minions. Plus Vecna is bringing all manner of undead, and real Drow dark elves, not just Orcs. Vecna has style and moxy I'll give him that, but also did I mention he can cast 5th through 9th level magic.
