The Convert- it is wonderful to see New Zealand movies with Maori culture on the internet on a 2024 movie preview post. For non-kiwis - this looks set during the pre-1840 Musket Wars in New Zealand, when Maori tribes were motivated to trade with Australian traders, whalers, sealers, and missionaries for muskets to fight other tribes in a series of empire building raids across the country..

That is actually what the Native Americans did. They would trade furs for guns, and then go slaughter other tribes. The other tribes were mad at the settlers, but they wouldnt be able to get guns/powder without them, so tolerated them to some extent.

You know movies have hit the ceiling of corporate capabilities when you watch every trailer and don't want to see a single one of the movies. Not one.

They have no new ideas. You can't even trust that any of those movies is going to be free of "the message". Such movies become instantly unwatchable because they instantly break the 4th wall and trigger my involuntary disgust response. When I spot a single "modern audience" trope, I turn off the flick and watch something else -- or go to YT and look up some breakdowns of films I enjoy. I can watch videos breaking down the Thing until the end of time. The more the merrier.

I get your sarcasm but I'm still going to explain: The Wolf is a reference to Pulp Fiction when they called the Wolf. The reason they use Wolfs instead of Wolves is dual. For one, they both think they're the only Wolf. The other is that it's a proper name and its plural would be Wolfs. If a man had the last name Wolf, you'd refer to his family as the Wolfs. In the same way, if your last name was Goose, the plural would be Gooses and not Geese. Plural proper nouns don't mutate or remain the same when made plural - you always add "s" or "es". Improper nouns do mutate or remain the same, wolf becomes wolves, goose becomes geese, moose remains moose, beef remains beef. If they were last names... Wolf becomes Wolfs, Goose becomes Gooses, Moose becomes Mooses, Beef becomes Beefs.
