Wow, we have some seriously passionate Walther fans. Firstly, I definitely should have done more research on the toolset prior to release. That is on me. However, for a "Gun specific" multitool only 2 of the 7 implements have anything to do with guns. The rest are generic in nature. Even if I give a pass to the quality on those items (which isn't great). The other implements are just thrown into it. Where is the carbon scraper? Sight adjustment tool? And I'm sure there are many other gun specific tools that would have been better than a spare blade or the file that doesn't have any texture. Flame on! Cheers, Dominic

Walthers is primarily a maker of PISTOLS, so there's no sight adjustment tool or carbon scraper needed, in contrast to prior Leatherma, SOG and Gerber tools that are focused on the M16/M4 platform. As for the craptastic file, your criticism of that is dead on.

I looked at the GMT 150 because I'm writing a book on MTs and other pocket tools, even telephoned with the responsible product manager (here in Germany). The file may not be the greatest, but particularly that "weird thing" you didn't understand is very helpful to push an pull springs in weapons. So, as a lot of others correctly stated before, it's a specialized tool. On the one hand it is just that. On the other hand, as you stated yourself, it has got a very interesting form factor for the pliers. As I have commented several times, in comparison to small pliers from Knipex (and also some other companies) EVERY MT pliers fail to help to cope with medium jobs. Even a LM Surge pliers will fail to move a nut of 1/2 or 3/4", or get a grip on something of 20mm or more in width/thickness - which is no problem for a Cobra 150. But a small pair could complement those nicely. The Nextool Sailor and also the SOG power pint are pretty OK in that regard, but on very heavy, clumsy frames. So if you want a size between a real pair of pliers and the Victorinox pliers on SAKs, this fits perfectly... plus all the specific stuff.

For everyday use, I still am with you on the Nextool. I still think it's what I would replace my Leatherman Squirt with if/when it breaks. I saw your comment about the gun specific items in the Walther, but if it really comes down to it, how often are you going to need a gun specific multitool? For a gun specific tool, it needs a small punch (1/16"), a medium punch (1/8"), a flat head, a Phillips head, a 1/4" drive, a micro "pry bar" made of something softer than steel (e.g. polymer, brass, etc.), and parallel pliers. If you are specific to a model (AR, shotgun, etc.), then you may want to add a front sight tool, choke wrench, or something along those lines. It doesn't need a knife blade at all. (How many people are there who carries guns and don't also have a pocketknife already on them?)

As a guitar tech and work on bikes there are many times very small hex drivers are needed and as many different metric and standard sizes from .050 " to 5mm and also string spacing and nut sizing from 42mm to 45 and other sizes from 2 1/4 to 54 mm. i actually would appreciate the guages and rulers. Kind of a pain to constantly have to have at hand or reach for calipers in either fractional or decimal inches or mm. If the scale could double as a depth guage that would be even better. Have seen some bike specufic MT and one for casual guitar players but nothing as extensive as this one for pistol owners. This video points out a major for me problem with MT tools and reviews. The real quality in hardness and longevity of the incuded files whether diamond or otherwise never seems to be really tested ditto for some of the other tools. The scissor quality's are tested well and sometimes the knife blades and steels but rarely tbe main tool the pliers/ cutters. Where is the Rockwell hardness tests and such , german knife makers use to include the RH mark ON THE BLADE. The " it wont even file my nails" test I find totaly inadequate and is the sort of test that reminds me of US car reviewers basing a major time of their review to how many cup holders and interior gadgets the car " has" . I seriously doubt if any of the MT have a great file as even Victorianox only incuded a nail file as they knew that a real file that thin at RH 62 would just snap with the slightest consumer style mis use. So how about at least a diamond dust file review of how it cuts/ lasts in knife steel. Presumably that would be the primary use in EDC and outdoor use, but I see nothing about this. As guitar fret filer in an ever increasing use of hard SS fret use amoung even Chinese makers this is a critical tool.
