The Liefeld issues were coming out as I was a kid so that was my first exposure to the New Mutants. As an idiot 10-11 year old those pre-Liefeld issues may as well have been created in the 40’s, that’s how dated they looked. It’s been a joy going back as an adult with better taste and reading these older stories.

I really wanted this when y'all first announced it. But when i started researching it, vol. 3 double dipped too much for my preference. I personally dont mind mixing formats, so i have vol. 1 and 2, then did what y'all mentioned and bought the two Epic collections (New Mutants: Curse of the Valkyries and Cable) to fill in the missing issues.

I bought X terminators after I read the article in Marvel Age. id did not get all of the issues though. I bought the Epic collection with them, so may be double dipping. I I even bought some comics the Infernal storyline. I even bought some of the High Evolutionary storyline after reading the article.

Love this era of x-babies! Really hope we get an announcement of vol. 4 to close out the era soon, it has to come in 2024 right?! I love John Byrne but that DM cover is an odd choice -- issues 65 , 73, 74, and 80 would have been great choices. Blevins' art during this period is as closely associated in my mind with NMs as Sienkiewicz during his period.

I'll eventually buy this despite the double dipping but not this month because Christmas shopping left me broke. I just hope with the recently controversies of the Mutant massacre prelude omni, x-treme X-Men vol 2 not having the x-treme mini solicited & the bad mapping for secret wars that marvel does the right thing & include x-tinction agenda in nm vol 4. The darkchild spine makes me wish I got the vol 2 dm instead of the standard despite my dislike for widescreen covers because spines matter to Me just as much as covers do. And I don like the Doug lock vol 2 spine.

I did know that Forge can make things out of nothing until this video. I had seen him in the X-Men. I the first issues of New Mutants I bought was 62 and was trying to get the Fall of the Mutants issues. I thought the guy at the comic should set aside them since joined a club there. I bought Fallen Angels before that. I bought These issues in the Epic Collection and bought fist 2 volumes of Omnibus. I bought some other Epic issues way after they came out besides new volumes.

That's a punitive amount of double dipping - I think it would've made much more sense to have the FOTM-Inferno issues be vol. 3 or just make vol. 3 74-85 with the new issues that are between the FOTM-Inferno ones being added to reprints of those omnis.

I really love these stories, but already having all X-Men OHC and Omnibus from that era, this will be a hard pass. I'll stick with NM Omnibus vol 1 and 2 and keep the epic collections to wrap up the series. If they ever release a vol.4 I might get it in order to improve to Oversize format, but double dipping what already have in oversize format is insane considering how much it costs and how many other omnibus I'm wanting.

The cheap, thin, flimsy see-through paper used on IMac printer from Turkey, combined with the icky powdery feel of their pages is enough of a deterrent for me not to double dip on this omnibus. Marvel needs to give us better paper quality. Never mind the fact that they print these in Turkey while Turkey still occupies the north of Cyprus (just not cool at all on Marvel’s ethics part)…

Wouldn't it be simpler to just create complete runs and then circle back, for event and creator omni's, for those that wanted them, as and when they arise? As least everyone would (mostly) know where they stand.

Really they should’ve made complete runs based on the material/omnis that were already out there, *then* circle back and continue the numbered lines. Those creator books existed first for a reason, that should continue to be respected. Work with what you already have, not against it and by extension the majority of the consumer base.

I think people forget that those books weren't planned to perfectly match up with ongoing volumes like this one. Just like I'm sure a volume 4 will double dip with anything x-tinction agenda. Even an X-tinction omnibus like lots of people have been wanting.

In the case of New Mutants it’s inevitable that the content in Vol 3 would largely double dip just because of how involved the title was in the events but rightfully should have its line completed because the majority of it was removed enough from said crossovers to warrant it.

Too much double dipping. Waiting for an Inferno Aftermath that's just the X-Factor and New Mutants stuff after Inferno, preferably also with X-Tinction Agenda thrown in. It's the same reason I didn't bother with Wolverine Omnibus Vol 1 if I already owned UXM Omnibus 3-4, Weapon X and Wolverine Epic 1. Same reason I don't care for Mutant Massacre Prelude if I own UXM Vol 5 and X-Factor Epic 1.

Have marvel omnibuses dropped drastically in quality in the past 3-4 years? I hadnt purchased any since before the pandemic but just dropped $400 on an order and the quality seems NOTICEABLY worse to what they used to put out. The books dont lay properly towards the beginning or end of the book, pages are much thinner, multiple dust jackets are off center... I'm struggling to see the point in dropping $100 on an omnibus when I can get a few $10 TPBs and have the same quality. They used to feel and look "premium"

Get the Omnis at almost 1/2 off through IST or other direct market distributors, and then the price point won’t hurt so much.

@@litewait633 yeah IST used to be my main source but I used OPB on the past couple orders which is a bit more expensive. Gonna stick to IST in the future because OPBs packaging quality has dropped drastically. Books were protected with cardboard alone. No more bubblewrap. Every single book came damaged.

@@Yakerbb wow, I’ve always used OPB as my IST backup. That’s weird about the packaging and damaged books. I ordered USM v3 from them 3-4 weeks ago and it arrived perfect. I don’t remember anything unusual about the packaging material. I’d contact them. They’ve had good customer service in the past.
