Most important with hypercrypt is that you can pick it up each round (end of opponents turn) and then in your reinforcements step deep strike it in anywhere again to continue with your immortals bomb - It never needs to fly… which is a limitation for aircraft more generally.

Something I've thought of... load a full squad of Immortaks into Night Scythe with Chronomancer. Use Cosmic Precesion (Hypercrypt Detachment) to insert Night Scythe as close as possible to enemy home objective. Immortals get out, they shoot, and Chronomancer allows them to move 5 inches after shooting. If all goes well you take enemy home objective turn 1 or 2. Won't work against every army of course
@Planet40K4 ай бұрын
I don’t think this is possible in t1. I can’t recall where the rule is but something prevents the immortals from being that close in turn 1

Why can't it come in turn 1 of my opponent's turn?
@anthonysees50154 ай бұрын
The when for rapid ingress is: "End of your opponent's movement phase." This means you use it during your opponents turn... so why can't it come in during opponent's turn 1? Genuinely asking

@@anthonysees5015 rapid ingress only allows in a turn in which it would normally be allowed to do so coupled with the out of phase rule this prevents the night scythe turn one as it can only come down turn 1 in your turn. as of the June 2024 dataslate GW had this also answered in a FAQ in which they said no. When you say reroll all hit rolls. Does that mean the ones that failed or both failed and successful rolls?
@lilaotearoa53994 ай бұрын
You can reroll all fails and can reroll the successes if you want to. I.e. you are allowed to try to reroll a normal hit into a critical hit - the price being that you may fail and reroll it into a miss. On 5+ crits against targets you suck at wounding against it us usually worth it

Hmm, you seem to be assuming that A: your opponent won’t just shoot the giant floating “shoot me” sign that is the night scythe. It’s a Ghost ark with 2 fewer wounds and no invuln, not the pinnacle of durability. Investing in it as a key strategy piece is up to you. B: This vehicle has a not too small base, and if you’re planning on getting 10-20 models out of it the turn it comes in, good luck finding room for it. This play is very obvious to see coming and screen out. Basically what the Night Scythe does is kinda redundant in this codex, between Veil of Darkness, hypercrypt, infiltrator and deepstrike enhancements, and the monolith, I don’t see a reason to bring this in any real competitive way. Also, you can’t get in if you’re in engagement range, so if you deepstrike immortals or a “shooting unit” somewhere (again, good luck with the positioning) as the opponent I will 100% make sure they never get back in.
@danjones30124 ай бұрын
You dont get to dictate me getting back into the night scythe. 1) I deploy, shoot, chrono move shoot move back into scythe. 2) I deploy, shoot, dont charge with my very weak in melee immortals/warriors, end of fight phase the scythe ability embarks the unit. No where in that cycle is there remotely a chance of you not letting my unit get back into the transport.

@danjones30124 ай бұрын
@@benbarnett7423 sir, you are only half correct. Yes, it CAN happen at the end of your opponent's fight phase, but the ability is "at the end of THE fight phase" which also occurs on my turn. Sure, shoot at my night scythe with forces from your army that will need to reposition just to have line of sight to it instead of following your original plan. Hypercrypt can give it a 4+ invuln for 1 cp if I even need it. You blow it up, nice, now I make desperate escape tests on the disembarking unit which gets set up and any remaining shooting into the unit if there is any might kill it. Sure as heck I'm not going to deploy them out of the scythe closet to my opponent in that situation making your charge hard or impossible to get off. Which equals in most scenarios a fully or half functional unit remaining. Plus if you choose to target the scythe combo that is less anti tank weapons going into my premium targets in the list. 295 point package, 360 with a cryptek that is good into your infantry versus my doomsday arks or monoliths which are good into everything. What do you choose?
