Lowe’s carries acrylic plastic, if you measure your plates you can buy a large sheet for 22 and get about 24 plates from one sheet.they will cut it for you.

I’ve been using a self healing mat in place of the plastic shim for about 6 months. The rest of the sandwich is the same. The self healing mat warps but it can be easily fixed. I put it in a shallow pan and pour boiling water over it, then leave it to cool to room temperature. The cutting mats can be flattened the same way. A bonus is that all the little bits of debris that was stuck to the mat float out so the mat comes out clean and flat with NO elbow grease required. I first tried this on a cutting mat that I was planning to throw away. It came out flat and I’m still using it a year later.

I am having same warping problem with my Gemini Jr plate. I did see something in the instructions that said you could run the plate sandwich without a die through the Gemini multiple times and it will start to flatten the warped plate. I did it about 25 times and I am seeing an improvement. I am trying to avoid buying new ones so am happy that you and others on KZbin are testing alternatives and sharing with the rest of us. Thanks

I saw your videos and intended to try the sandwich but I have had good success with keeping them clean of debris including all the paper bits stuck in the cuts. I also rotate but only if I get any bowing. I don’t use many layers of plates unless absolutely necessary. I still will try you methods because I agree with your theory about consumable products. Thanks for doing this! It's very helpful. In my own personal experience, I purchased the GemJr for my daughter's bridal shower and wedding. I had to cut 85 gold foil medallions (Spellbinders) for the invites. So I used the same WRMemoryKeepers self healing mat you have. By the time I was done, I had totally destroyed that mat, it was tearing apart from the rubber, magnetic layer, adhesive, etc. it was rendered useless. My plates and plastic shim are crazy warped. My wedding crafts became even more costly. GoiNg forward, I have purchased plates from Spellbinders as well as a basic self healing mat from Amaz. They work well. We'll see how long they last.

Hi Felicia! I just stumbled upon you searching for ways to unwarp my Gemini Junior plates. I CANNOT believe that I can use my Big Shot plates with my Gemini Junior. This is good to know! Hi Felicia, Thanks so much for the shout out! (DSscrapie) I just ran across your video and wanted to let you know, this is not an idea I came up with. I had seen it on a board I was reading and decided to try it. I experimented for a couple of months and decided to do the video. I could not find another video out there about it so I believe I was just the first to post on KZbin. I have no idea who originally came up with the idea. Wish I could so they could get credit. It was a genius idea! I have been using this sandwich exclusively since I posted the video and still love it! I am still using the same mats I used in the video. They are still holding up. I am waiting for the die cutting companies to hop on board! Thanks again!

Felicia I have an alternative sandwich for you, use two cutting mats a metal shim and a sizzix base plate. It may warp some, but it cuts beautifully especially thin ruled dies. Hugs!

Thanks for the wonderful information. I just bought a Gemini Junior so this will come in handy. You started to talk about why your Gemin Jr is purple but you did nt finish it . Because mine is White with a bit of purple is yours different them mine or is it because mine is newer? thanks again for helpful tips.

Just a thought: I saw an old video of the frugal crafter where she scrubbed her cutting plates until they were smooth with Dawn and a brush. Then she soaked the plates in hot water to make them pliable enough to benjud back into shape. I don't know if that will work for you but I thought it might help. :)

Love you energy and videos-and, of course, your ideas. Love that you do the testing. I am too chicken to do all of that experimenting. But, would you please use bow-- as in hair bow or bow and arrow. Not bow- as what you do for the audience after a great performance or to royalty. Just a suggestion from a speech judge!

I’ve been using this combination for a few months now, saved a small fortune by not buying original Gemini plates, however my Gemini jammed...couldn’t get the plates out at all. Contacted Crafter’s Companion by email with a photo of the machine and jam. They said it voids the warranty using non CC dedicated Gemini plates. ⬇️Just letting you all know ⬆️

Thank you for the information. My original plates warped so bad and got that bubble warp that eventually one of my plates shattered, even trying to rotate the plates (which gets hard to keep up with). Fusteating cause warping also causes inconsistent die cutting. I will try this and hopefully get great results.

I have been watching a lot of videos and tried baking my gemini plates at 200 degrees for 10-11 minutes on a baking sheet and cool between two heavy cutting boards and my boards went back to normal. That would need done every so many uses but it flattened them. Protect them with a heat mat between layers while baking like you use for the Easy press.

I like your demonstrations, however, I would like it even more if you could kindly reduce your hand movements, it's making me dizzy. A little tip, to flatten your clear plates, put them in a 200-degree oven for 30minutes and you get them 90% flat again.

I got mine from HSN for the today special which was a good buy but with the holidays coming up many stores might have it cheaper. Check HSN to see if it's on sale for the next craft day.
