Hi Liz! It was nice to see you post videos again. You truly inspire me even before I decided to enroll for my APN program in 2019, then now as a new AG Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care. I just passed my boards a a few months ago. 🥰

Congrats you got this! U.S. health care is in desperate need of good NP's.

Liz, you are saving my life. I am a 20 plus year RN who just started my new job as an NP. I am struggling. This helped me tremendously, just knowing what I am experiencing is normal is helpful. Thank you!

I wish mentorship was more embraced by the working NP community. I am one semester in to my DNP program and am facing the reality that it's going to take luck and a lot of work to secure clinical sites because I have no connections in the OB, women's health, and primary care areas.

Make sure to check out your local Nurse Practitioner Association as they often have NP preceptor list.

Hi Liz, I have been following you for some time now. I think what you do is very important for the nursing profession. I graduated back in 2023 and I have not been able to get a job a year after. Part of this is bc I have little kids and commute would be brutal but also because I have been off the hospital so ce 2020 a d just did prn jobs until 2022. Im doubting myself at this point and thinking to maybe do a fellowship to feel more confident. Do you think this would be a good option? Thanky ou so much

I totally hear the self-doubt that can creep in. The good news is that it comes back pretty quickly once you start doing it again. Fellowships are great, I think the upsides are the oversight, mentorship and additional training, but the downsides can be competitiveness and decreased pay compared to other jobs. I don't think it's required, but any job that you start at first should have adequate support for new grads (like a slower onramp of patient visits and scheduled mentorship!). Definitely check out the new grad NP playlist of videos for help with a first job. Best of luck!!

I feel like there are huge knowledge gaps and things i don’t know, despite being an RN for 8 years prior to NP school… patients ask very vague questions that I often am not sure how to answer, and it makes me feel inept 🥲

In my experience using a patient's "vague" question as a starting place instead of an end point. Often it is an open door to the great mystery of a disease process or problem.
