I'm a guy and i like to mop lol. Here's a more streamlined way I've found for using this version of the O-Cedar mop (RinseClean system): Use a spray bottle or one of the manual pump sprayers to put cleaning solution on the floor. Then use your mop to spread it around. Mop it all up with the mop and spinner. Get as much excess liquid as you can off the floor. Then you can rinse the floors with the clean water reservoir. This way, you don't have to fill up that reservoir twice, once with solution and once with clean water and you can go about your day. Before the rinse phase, you can dip it in the clean water and spin it, do that 2 times to clean the dirty mop, then you can use the rest of the clean water to rinse the floor. Tldr; Use a spray bottle and mop to spread the cleaning solution for the wash phase, then use the clean water reservoir for the rinse phase.

Lift the red valve and leave it open. This allows the perfect amount to rinse your mop. It will fill to the proper level and keep filling it when you dip the mop in it for rinse.

Leaving it open is equivalent to just sticking your dirty mop back in the same water. Why would you want to do that? I would keep the clean water segregated. Like fill it close it soak up the water. Mop the floor refill it rinse the mop wring it out. Refill it to rinse the mop if needed again and start it all over again with clean water and clean mop.
@TheRamroller
@TheRamroller 5 ай бұрын
The compartments are separated, when you pull the mop up it takes virtually all of the water out of small reservoir and then slowly refills with clean water as you are wringing and mopping. So would you close the valve and then clean and scrub out the reservoir each time?? If you don't you are achieving nothing different except putting less water on your mop and slowing the process. You can do it however you wish but it works great the way it was designed to. @@FRANKLOOSER

@@FRANKLOOSER it only releases a small amount of water anyways. Just enough to saturate the mop. So not the equivalent at all.

If using hot water more water is forced into the clean water resivour. Fills more than half. Although it works as Intended with cold or warm water. Leave it open it will only fill all but the perfect amount that the mop can absorb. Come back after mopping the kitchen and the perfect amount of water is ready to go.

I bought a small dollar tree trash can to put my clean water (plus pinesol) in. (This trash can will fit in the ocedar bucket when not in use. ) I put water in the ocedar mop bucket to be my rinse bucket. After mopping the floor for a bit, I rinse in the water (it will be dirty after this first rinse). Then I ring out the excess water in the ringer. I put the mop in the cleaning solution (which is in the dollar store trash can next to the ocedar bucket), then I ring it out again in the ringer. This keeps the cleaning solution bucket cleaner for longer. Give it a try.

Imo this method is better then that new bucket because ultimately you're clean water is still being tainted by the dirty because it's still all mixing together in the bottom of the bucket. But with the trash can trick you're clean is always separate from the dirty rinse section.

@passionatepennypincher

It shouldn't take too long and it depends on how wet the mop is. We are able to get most of the moisture out and then mop regularly. I would say depending on the size of your room, by the time you are finished the first part should be dry. I sure hope that helps.

It's kinda gimmicky, to be honest. Granted, it does reduce the amount of cross contamination , it just doesn't do it enough, sadly! I personally use multiple mop heads when I mop. I start with vacuuming the entire floor. I then mop the entire floor with one mop head ,ringing it out multiple times. I then come back with a new mop head and mop water and mop the entire floor again. Depending on how dirty the floor was, this usually does the trick! I basically do this method until the water remains clear after mopping. If the water remains clear after mopping, I know the floor is clean.

@@passionatepennypincher hi! I meant as your mopping the floor. 😊 I’m currently using a mop that velcros on and off easy enough so when I’m mopping, before I stick it back in the clean water bucket I rinse it off in the sink. But it sees like the clean water would get dirty when you put the mop back in.

It seems to me that the new one works better than the old one for controling the clean and dirty water and keeping it seperated. Because using clean water to rinse the mop then spin the wet it again to start moping makes sense to me. Just get two of the same regular (bigger) mop bucket and have one as the "rinser" which would rinse and dry the mop directly off the floor and the second bucket will have clean water that you dip it in once it's been rinsed in the first bucket. So one bucket is rinse and dry and the other is wet with clean soapy water, spin excess water off and clean with. Professional cleaners always recommend to have two buckets and so these comparies are juat making gimmicks that are even less effective than juat having two. Like when I wash my counter. I put the rag in my hot soapy water, use THAT water to wash the counter with, then i rinse what got on thr rag off of it down the drain and place my rag back in rhe soapy water for the next wiping. So each time rhe rag gets dirty, it gets rinsed befkre goinf back into the clean soapy water. Same concept with just two of the same mop buckets.

If you don't have a separate bucket of clean water to rinse...it seems like you're defeating the purpose, you're either double dipping in the old bucket or not rinsing the mop in the new bucket. I would go with the old style because it is bigger and save the money. unless I'm missing the rinse step with the new one? I like to rinse my mop before I stick it back in the cleaning solution.

Okay see I'm confused what's actually different from the old one? From what i can see when you took off that part that you add a little water into in order too mop the clean water below is still becoming gross because each time you spin the dirt is just fulling into the clean water in the bottom that you're adding into that small section. So ultimately you're still mopping with dirty water just like the old style. I feel the new one is just a trick on the mind making you think you're getting clean water each time you release some into that little spot. But ultimately you're not because all the water including what is being put back into the clean water after you mop a area is still all in the same section of the bottom of the bucket. Basically it's just a illusion imo! And they really need too add wheels too the bucket already.

I have the new mop and it is two separate compartments. The blue bucket where you put the clean water is sealed from the rest of the bucket, the dirty water goes into the larger part in the bottom when you spin the mop. Eventually, I guess depending how much water you filled the blue bucket with, you’ll run out of clean water and your dirty water will be underneath for you to lift the blue container out and dump the dirty water.😊

*Never empty dirty water from the floor into your sink because you put dishes there that you use to eat and you can carry a lot of bacteria if you don't wash the sink and your dishes well, so all that water you used to mop throw it directly into the drain or toilet.*

First time user. There is not enough clean water to even get the mop wet enough to clean the mop. Huge fail.

*Don't complicate your life or spend more money for those who have the old one, just put another bucket with the soap and that's it. That's all they added to the new one, a space where the soapy water is. Think a little, keep using what you already have, don't spend.*

This whole concept is ridiculous. Great marketing though from OCedar. Here’s what everyone seems to be missing…the mop gets dirty and stays dirty right? So even though you are putting it in clean water you still have dirt on that mop that you are spreading around maybe it’s less but it’s no different than using a microfiber mop that you spray and mop spray and mop and drag that thing all over your floor. The only way to avoid is to refill your water frequently and clean your mop head frequently throughout the mopping process or mop your floors daily so there is very little dirt.

I liked the new O-Cedar Mop. I had knee replacement surgery 5 months ago and it does make mopping quite a bit easier. I'm glad I bought it. This lady has very good intentions but the video is a bit tiresome. She should research the new product before making the video. Most of her research was done while we painfully watch her reach her conclusions!
