I think the floor is still dirty after because there’s two issues I see in your technique. I was thinking the same thing but, once you mop and have a dirty mop, you wring it out, release the valve, grab fresh water with the dirty mop, wring that out, and then go back to the fresh water and mop again. Secondly, you have to mop up the dirty water on the floor. It’s still there. You have to get a clean mop with the fresh water and wring it out until dry, then go back over the area to absorb the dirt. The first pass is to loosen. The way you did it pushes the dirt around and picks up some of the dirt. I recommend using a spray bottle to get solution down. Then use a broom brush to agitate the floor. Then use the mop in the method above to absorb the dirty water on the floor.

Absolutely brutal product that I purchased. How does anyone think putting a dirty mop head back into clean water makes the mop clean. You are now spreading dirty water back onto floor. I thought i was missing a sequence but now realizing that this is how it was made and its a flaw. There is no way this product should be on the market. There should be a recall on this product and figure it out or give everyone their money back.

I watched many videos and read reviews before I bought mine and most people recommended using a few drops of Dawn and a little white vinegar. I did this and put a cap full of Fabulosa in for a nice scent. It works wonderfully. And I do not use boiling water because sooner or later I'll get burned with it and don't want to take a chance. My tap water gets very hot and that works fine with using a funnel to pour it in. Boiling water on some floors will actually damage them especially hardwood floors. I had my own commercial/residential cleaning business for 10 years and I wish I'd had this product back then. I think it's better than anything else I've ever tried and I think I tried everything available including all the Swiffer wetjets and electric steam cleaners. The price, the user friendly design and how clean it gets my floors with six cats and a husband who never learned to wipe his feet, I'm very pleased with the results.
@ashleynicole4732Ай бұрын
Thanks for making videos like this it is very helpful and much appreciated!!! Just wanted to give you a little tip if you or anyone wants to utilize the mop and the clean water better. Close the tab where the clean water comes out after each use or you are contaminating the water with dirty water and also using more water than needed. If you want the mop more wet then don’t spin as much. That one should help with not having to refill the water as often. What I do is put the amount of water I need then close the clean water lever, spin and mop. After moping put it back in the spinner first to get out the rest of the dirty water in the mop head then dunk it in the clean water, spin and repeat. I hope this info helps. It might be a little extra for some but the is the best way to ensure clean floors and not have to use as much water. Have a blessed day ❤

Kids dirty up homes just as any animal would so why shouldn’t people expect a mop to keep up with a home, kids, pets, or not? That’s what a mop is supposed to do. You are so right to take the spin mop back. I bought the original version 4 years ago. It stayed in my house for one mopping and took it back because, buy the time I was done with my 80% hard floor house, I was very exhausted. I saw the new version in the store and thought before I buy it again I’ll find a review. I don’t have a big dog and still think it would be a waste of my time. Bottom line: The floor will stay dirty if the water isn’t changed frequently. Too much work!!!! My system is faster and easier I also dry them before letting my dog in the area. As an elder with spinal disabilities and arthritis everywhere, I can already see too many issues with the set up of this mopping system for myself. Although I like the idea of separate water partitions, it looks like it would be too heavy for me to lift. I use Swiffer Wetjet for my weekly routine and my Mr. Clean foam roll mop for my hot monthly cleaning. I have a short hair cat who doesn’t shed much but I live right next to a highway and active train tracks so the amount of dust that plagues me, Ohmygoodness! I have to sweep and vacuum every other day or else I find my cat chasing tumbleweed sized dust rabbits (not bunnies, because these have grown up!) around the apartment, no lie! I found myself spinning the mop head over 40 times and it was still dripping water. I truly wanted to love the system but wringing the mop head out by hand was a true downer. I love your posts. Take Care!
@mrjomaled7552 жыл бұрын
I bought one of those thinking it was going to be an improvement over the older one which I had. BIG mistake. First of all, the reservoir to hold the clean water is too small and I kept running out of clean water. Then when I had to rinse the dirty mop I had to dip it in the clean water reservoir in order to soak up more liquid so I can properly rinse it. Ended up that a lot of dirty used water got mixed up with the clean one. After about 4 cycles of mopping I already ran out of clean water and had to refill it again. I had to refill it 4x to clean up my average size living room/dining room and kitchen. The whole contraption is unbalanced at first because all of the cleaning liquid is contained in the clean water reservoir. I am going back to my older Ocedar and just use another bucket full of clean hot or warm water. So what if I had to deal with 2 containers......easy peasy......so do not spend money on this...keep using your older model.

I love this mop system,it works really well for me. Just want to say that maybe the reason you had residual dirt after mopping,was your "DIY" solution was not strong enough to break down the dirt on the floor,just saying.Liked your demonstration and loved the dog.

@sandrafrosch4293 Жыл бұрын
I do not agree! The reason why is not the strength of the cleaner. It was obvious it was because the baseboards came clean. It is not going to work when your putting the mop back into dirty water. Most of the water spins out, but there is still enough dirt on the mop when dipping it into the cleaning water. The only way a floor like her’s (because of the dog) is to keep changing the water. No way, not me.

@@sandrafrosch4293 agree. I’m a single guy with a husky… I have a shark matrix robot that I run 2-3 times a day and I just got this mop because the mop water becomes black when I’m mopping… I mop 2-3 times a week… with a regular mop, I’d have to change the water and remop the downstairs 3-4 times until it was clean… with this system, I only need to mop once or if it’s really dirty, twice. My floors are super hard to clean they resemble real wood with deep grooves and gouges and everything so let’s just say between sweeping and using my vacuum cleaner to try to suck up as much dirt as possible I can fill up a one gallon bag of dirt. I sweep I vacuum and then I use this mop that’s kind of like a swiffer and then I actually use a real mop and then to end it off. I have one of those shark steam and mop with the spending head and it works amazing. My floors can get so dirty within day two if you walk, barefoot your feet are going to be solid black I really wish I would’ve never had this flooring. I bought this clean rinse system bc I hate putting the mop head back into dirty water-seems really stupid and counter productive to me. However, if I had it to do over again I would've bought the original version and just got a small bucket to fit in the main bucket to keep the clean water in. The white mop heads are so much denser and easier to use on baseboards and cabinets. The blue ones are thin and the plastic head just gets in the way. However, I think since it's your first time using hot water you were probably getting a lot of dirt loosened up that you normally weren't. Hence, why the microfiber towel was so dirty at the end. I bet that would've happened with any mop. But I few extra passes would get it clean and then it wouldn't be so time consuming going forward.

I got the same bucket and mop from Villeda The kitchen flood looks a lot better after I use it. Our kitchen floor has a lot of wax stripped off of it so it's easy to look dirty no matter how many times you wash it. I like it. My tap water gets hot enough to use the water. My roommate uses a kettle to fill it. I fill a pouring container with a spout with the very hot tap water and only fill the bucket with just enough water to wet the mop then ring it again. Spin the mop after cleaning the floor before dipping it into enough water to wet the mop to see if it gives better results. Like you said you have a dog so it might be time to go over the floor with a scrubbing on your hands and knees.

Let me suggest using cold water with ice from the freezer. First the cold water makes the dirt go to the bottom of the mop bucket leaving you with clean water on top to rinse your mop out with. Hi from Troy, NY I was looking for a great way to clean my hardwood floors and I came across your site I'm a man and I'm very clean so I use hot water also I had bought a O-cedar also didn't like it for one I have a petty big place and lifting up and pulling that bucket was not hard but I knew they was a better way so I bought a bucket with wheels and it spins so thank you for your input keep doing what you're doing.

I didn't hear you explain about the red tab. It stays up? What is the purpose of the tab? I use castile soap but have never heard of using alcohol on the floors. Thanks

I love this spin mop. One bucket only=too much dirty water. I really like O-Cedar. Saves my back, wrists, etc. 💯

I didn't like my o-cedar mop. I used mine several times and didn't like the spin mechanism- it just was cumbersome to me. I ended up getting rid of it, and then I bought a bissel crosswave which is like a mop and vacuum in one. It has its limitations (leaves a small 1/4 inch space against edges and walls where it can't clean), but I just go behind that with a swiffer mop or wipe by hand and clean those areas. I love that I have constant clean water to mop with, it's overall cleaning does a great job and clean up is pretty easy. I also love that I can clean my area rugs as well. it does a very decent job with that as well. I would highly recommend a cross wave if you're willing to make the investment.

Thank you. I was contemplating whether to get one or not. We have dogs, tile floor and clay soil. Have to change mop water all the time. Will try two buckets next time. I have the slippers too. Love them! Thank you for this review. Have a blessed day!

Thank you for this review. I use boiling water to mop, too. I purchased a funnel from dollar tree (automotive section) and it so,ves the filling problem!

Just got this and rried it and so far I love how clean it got my floors. Even though some the dirty mop water stays on the mop you really use most of the clean water when it comes up in the clean side.Most of it absorbs in y our mop when you shut off the water plug..not all of it but it is way cleaner than my other one bucke syste..

I don’t know why you return the mop, it does a really nice job cleaning your wall, and floor. You slippers were dirty maybe because you’ll need to mop more the area ? I recently buy it and it works for me and I have two cats.

I have an electric kettle with a spout so I can pour the boiling water in the little hole easily. So does your homemade mop wash work usually but using this Ocedar, it didn't work? I have one of these and I like it because of the concept (and I know people bootleg the concept by just bringingan extra bucket) but I hate how small the buckets are. In original O-cedar the bucket portion is big, fits the whole mop head with no problem. With this one, I think the mop head is smaller and the bucket still isn't large enough for my liking. I like to be able to swish the mop head around in the solution and you can't do that with this.
@Waynaworld2 жыл бұрын
That’s true. I’m going to stick with my old mop for now. Maybe 🤔 one day I’ll invest in a electric kettle. I need more space first.

That hot water idea is genius Wayna! I don't know why I didn't think of that before, and I spent years as a housekeeper. Shame on me! You taught this 78 y/o a lesson ☺ And I also love the idea of using an another bucket to keep your clean hot water in; not that hard and the water will stay cleaner. So now I gotta go clean my bathroom floor, which is filthy (I have a cat and her litter place is in the bathroom!) Also I will save money by not getting the "improved" version. 🤪 Thanks love!

I would use a funnel to pour water into small hole anyway … I tend to spill anyway. Already have a metal funnel ( ‘bout 5 inches across 🤷🏻♀️ ) like those grippy slippers! And for those speaking towards EO and our pets. Quality, quality and more quality ingredients! Yes, better quality means less “perfume”-added. It is true, our pets (and us!) shouldn’t be exposed to unhealthy EOs. 👋🏼 to Jackson!

My tea kettle is my best friend when boiling mop water . Everyone looks at me crazy when I say I boil my water. The tea kettle nozzle makes less of a mess And the boiling water does something to the spin mechanism so I have to replace mine about every 3 months

Hi Wayna! Just subscribed to your channel and am loving it. I have a question about cleaners. I like the combo you use and am going to try it but wonder if it leaves the floor sticky at all? I use PineSol in my cleaning water, not much but find it's the tiniest bit tacky when it dries, which makes me crazy! I would love suggestions from you or the viewers as to what is used. Thanks for the review! Carla

If you really want a sparkling clean floor, just use ammonia. I guarantee it will remove ALL the dirt and grime from your floor. Take your dog to a friend’s house, open all the windows and put on a fan for fresh air and pour the ammonia straight onto the floor… the dirt will actually come up with very little scrubbing. Test in an area first for safety on your type of floor. I just bought this spin mop and I think there is a learning curve getting used to it.

Whats crazy to me is I just stopped mopping and get on my hands and knees or squat down and do my floors because the kids and I did it once to just see how it was (cause they can't wring the mop out) and now I prefer that method. However, I need something for my high walls and ceilings because I feel unsafe standing high up trying to wipe them down.

I get the idea but when you mop the floor then put it in the clean water isnt getting the water dirty???
@bnazzaro219 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing but, I think once you mop and have a dirty mop, you wring it out, release the valve, grab fresh water with the dirty mop wring that out and then go back to the fresh water and mop again.

I made a cardboard sleeve to hold while spinning. Wrapped some tape on the pole to keep the sleeve from dropping all the way down when not in use.

I’ve never tried this mop before but I love the microfiber mop pads from Rubbermaid I can sweep and mop my whole house with them and then wash them when I’m done i always use hot water sometimes if my living room is especially dirty I’ll do a plain hot water scrub with the mop then another round with my cleaner
@RMMomma4Eva8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the review. Respectfully I wasn't sure about your testing method? (And thus your conclusion.) First, if it had been a while since you mopped, then yeah your floors are gonna be pretty dirty especially with a dog. The licking is making the floor dirtier not cleaner. It will take more than a gentle soap mixture and a few passes. You need to sweep first then use a strong soap that's nontoxic and a more thorough mopping method. I noticed that you were mopping the same spots over and over up and down instead of side to side with the grain as most efficient and also walking back over them, you also started in the middle of the floor instead at the door and working methodically backwards ending where you can stay for a while without walking back over the wet floor, and you combined baseboards in the middle of mopping when they should be done separately, their dirt doesn't count against the floor dirt. You also didn't go back over the floor at the end with plain water to remove any residue. So I think you just didn't see paying that much for a mop, so the test kind of became a self fulfilling prophecy.. which is fine for you, but what about the viewers..🙏🏽✨

I think if you use actual floor cleaner like Lysol/mr clean. It would have been clean. You didn’t use much soap so it seem like it was more water than cleaner
