All these car reviews outside of India does more harm to these car companies, because we know what brands are capable of doing and what they are doing in India

We don’t buy good cars in India. We buy fuel efficient cars or gadgets. That’s why Hyundai won’t sell the n series and only the sticker n line. Or why the swift sport never came, or why the VAG cars are seen as over engineered and ignored, only for people to rush to find polo tsi once’s it’s not in sale
@saipranith2123 ай бұрын
I don’t see VAG cars topping the sales chart anyways, why not they do what they are good at fundamentally. And also, enough of we blaming ourselves. Customers can only buy what they sell and companies are too much worried about their profits , that they don’t want to experiment such products in India . Example : Did you expect the 1litre turbocharged 3 cylinder engines to be made by all manufacturers 5 years back ? We need trendsetters to do their role while others follow.

@odmag Rohit, what do you think from your experience?
@rohit_paradkar3 ай бұрын
Both of you are right in your own viewpoints. Manufactures have often experimented with bringing in higher spec or other products from their portfolios to the Indian market, but we as a market don’t always see value in all of those products. e.g. the Octavia at 30 lakh failed, but a Kodiaq at 50 lakh sells out rather quickly. We would love to see the Swift Sport, but how many actually go and buy these cars apart from a handful of enthusiasts- case in point Jimny. It was immediately written off as small and expensive. Indians are not necessarily behind “cheap” products, we want most value for the price we pay - be it an Alto or a Rolls Royce - and there is nothing wrong about it. But that is where most global manufactures simply can’t deliver given our high tax structures.

Spot on, but companies also witness the infrastructure and buying behaviour and capabilities. It is only fair on their part to focus on sustainability.

please bring 2.0L engine. I am planning to upgrade from my 1.5 TDI ecosport next year. I want my upgrade to be engaging, fun to drive. I test drove 1.5L slavia. Feels under powered. Please note Skoda guys if you are watching. Steering, Engine, dynamics and above all super strong auto HVAC is most important thing above everything. Tech comes second. Don't kill this car with your under powered 1.5L engine. For this Price I would easily sway away with xuv700.

Owning a car which has a sunroof, it has been the least used gimmick by me. It is highly impractical. When it is hot, you can't open it. When it rains you can't open it. When it is dusty, you can't open it. You can't use it in highway speeds. The usage scenario of a sunroof is very limited and highly impractical in Indian scenario.

Before the previous gen, the Octavia had 1.4 and 1.8 TSI options. Then it was replaced by a new gen with 2.0 TSI. Now if it comes back with 1.5 Evo engine then definitely it is a downgrade. Skoda can relaunch with same 2.0 TSI but can upgrade the Superb to 2.0 TSI AWD with 265 BHP. Then there could be good interest in these products. Else in any case the D segment sedan is no more
