New Okuma Rockaway rod and a new Z-Man bait that catches more surf fish than the sand worm imo!

I fished for about 3-4 hours and caught 8 fish total using my new Okuma Rockaway SP rod and the Z-Man curly tail grub in motor oil color. And I used only ONE bait for all of the catches! These Z-Man grubs are strong, durable and they don't just break apart like the sand worms. And they're on sale for like 4 bucks for a pack of 8! Link below.
To me, the Berkley Gulp sand worms work but they just aren't very durable and I end up using quite a few of them on each session.
I know my fish count is off in the video but that's because I didn't get all of the catches on video!

Smelts kept you busy. An informative video. What length is your grub? Do you know how that rod compares to a Hawaiian Custom 10'7" rod?

They do keep you busy for sure! I think it's a 2 1/2" grub. The link should be in the description below. I've never used the Hawaiian custom so I can't compare. I've been wanting to get one but probably won't now because I really like the SP!

@@gc_in_dc are those Z man baits the kind that can't be stored with other rubber baits. Are they tough to get a hook through?

@@ronmodafferi8202 I'm not really sure because i just opened it and have only used the one bait. But it seems pretty durable and don't think it will melt like some other baits and the color doesn't seem like it will blend with others. Easy to get the hook thru tho!

Bro where did you find the 10ft Rockaway SP? I think I been to every tackleshop and they are sold out and backordered. They are very hard to get at the moment!

I got it on Amazon a couple months ago before everyone was trying to get it! I originally wanted to get the hawaiian custom but was late to that game and got this instead. Love the SP so far!

Good choice! Really light rod for a 10ft. I like fishing with light tackle, it feels good with a fish on. I already purchased a new reel for the SP, I just dont have the rod lol. Cant wait to get my hands on that!

@@fishwithme9245I think it will only break if it gets stepped on or mishandling the rod because my 9’6 celilo has small guides, its held up for 4 years and its still strong. Caught many stripers on it, biggest is 38”. My goto rod if the swells are not too crazy
