I have used a Perun 2 for crime scene photography for a few years now. It has been perfect for illumination where a camera flash is just not enough. I still have not experienced any issues and the battery has never run out. Excellent line of lights here. I'd probably purchase a Perun 3 if the output was significantly greater than the Perun 2. The Arkfeld Pro is another light I use in my line of work. The laser is very useful for pointing out and marking evidence at distance and plotting where scene scans are to be completed. Olight has come a long way from their initial EDC lights and deserve recognition for their innovation and value.

That’s really interesting information, thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!

I love my Olights but I wish they had a way to adjust the programming. I don't need a dozen different light modes. Maybe a button sequence that would switch between several different sets of operating behavior. I typically use medium or moonlight

That would be nice. Thanks for watching! 👍

Thanks for the video, I have a question about the proximity sensor. Does it always lower the light when close to objects or only when turbo mode is on? And can it be turned off.
@projectpinehillsАй бұрын
It works on turbo and high. If on high, the light will turn off after one minute. It can be turned off both permanently and temporarily. Easiest way to turn it off is to turn turbo back on within 5 seconds after the proximity sensor steps it down. Thanks for watching! 👍

@@projectpinehills thank you for getting back to me with the answer. I will be buying one now I know this info. You rock man 👍

The Perun 2 is nearly 4 years old. They seriously dropped the ball on the 3. Marginal increases over a Perun 2 with a 5k cell in it. People forget Olight put 4k cells in these from the factory.
@projectpinehillsАй бұрын
What did they miss in the update? I don’t have a lot of experience with the Perun.
@phillymetalheadАй бұрын
@@projectpinehills My Perun 2 has nearly the same beam performance as the 3. The lowering of the candela with the triple emitters, lowers the effectiveness of the slight gain in output. Obviously no one wants a "throwy" headlamp as that would be awkward to use, but they nailed the TIR optics beam width on the M2R Pro and the Perun 2. I am reading that the P9s in the 3 have a dead neutral DUV rating, as the xhp50.2 in the 2 is very green. They had four full years to design a new full size headlamp, and all we got were incremental improvements? Sorry O-light. 👎 this time around.
@samuelchew2145Ай бұрын
a head lamp with throw i find good for walking, so you can walk with a lower lumen output extending runtime. 🤷♂️
@phillymetalheadАй бұрын
@@samuelchew2145in theory that's good, but for most users that creates tunnel vision and forces the user to move their head too much. I prefer the beam of my single emitter 2 versus the multi-emitter 3, because it has more throw.👍
@AdventureRichАй бұрын
Oh I'm definitely buying this tomorrow. I was holding out on buying the P2 hoping the price came down. Now this will be on sale on launch for $20 less!? The countdown is on! 💸 By the way, is there a significant size difference between the P2 and the P3?
@projectpinehillsАй бұрын
Good question, the Perun 3 is smaller (1.10 x 4.59 in) than the Perun 2 (1.13 × 4.75 in). Lots of design improvements over the Perun 2 from battery removal to switch size and location. Thanks for watching!

@phillymetalheadАй бұрын
@@scottkailey1 Don't feel bad my friend. I have been a loyal 2 user since day 1. Swap the 4k cell for a 5k cell and you will be in headlamp bliss. The emitters are slightly green, but after 5 minutes you eyes adjust to the color and you get 550 glorious lumens for nearly 6 hours. It's the best headlamp I've ever owned and I WON'T be upgrading. ENJOY IT! 👍

Eh, it's a cool light but that charger is exactly why I don't buy Olights. I want to be able to charge my light/battery from any cell phone charger, I don't want to carry around an additional cable or not be able to charge because I don't have that cable. Maybe if I could use a USB rechargeable battery inside the light so I could do both?
@projectpinehillsАй бұрын
This flashlight has the Olight battery oriented with the negative end toward the lense (unlike older Olights) which means you can run ANY standard 21700 battery WITH a button top in it but you won't be able to charge it in the flashlight. So I think your USB rechargeable battery idea would work. I was reluctant to use Olight due to the charger initially too, but after owning at least 2 Olights, I prefer their charger. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!

So imo this product release of new items kinda let down as hoping for a arkflex mini or even more colors for the arkflex, but if had to pick from this group the sphere is my fave. And glad omino is back.

They kinda dropped the ball on the Perun 3... we need more candela.
@projectpinehillsАй бұрын
The Candela of the Perun 3 (6,400) is lower than the Perun 2 (6,889). How much candela would you like to see?
@Southernboy302Ай бұрын
@projectpinehills probably closer to 12k. Have one of those leds for throw and the others for flood. I'm an industrial electrician... we need throw as well as flood. Currently using the Fenix HP25R V2... I also use the Perun 2... I switched from the Perun 2 for the candela... though I would like more than 1600 lumens. Also.. the medium should be 300 to 400... 160 is not enough, and the high should be 1k.

Great illuminating review, I had watch 3 others for this head torch before yours and none of them had reviewed or even mentioned most of the features (magnetic, timers, sos, proximity etc). I'm now fully enlightened. Thank you. Shame the magnetic charger isn't a USB C flex but replaceable/spare battery is a bonus.
