Do you have an opinion on choosing counterspell or mettalic rebuke? I feel that in a meta where we have a lot of green decks, mana is not a problem for them with rebuke. Great video!

That's true rebuke is minimal against ponza. But your land base resists alot of ponza in g1 already. So I wouldn't worry too much there. After SB you have extra hate for them with blue blast if you need it for cast into the fire as well. I personally favor rebuke because it can save you from d2d on the draw. Which counter spell is unlikely to do consistently.

What is your thoughts on Esper and Mardu variants of Affinity? Adding white to Affinity will allow for the use of Glint Hawk and Kor Skyfisher. These can bounce Tithing Blade and Refurbished Familiar.

Yeah I actually played against a cool mardu version while testing this deck. I really like the addition of white for d2d and glint hawk. But I think losing blue is a huge hit. Both because snacker is Soo good in the grixis version with thought cast. But also lack of metallic rebuke to protect you from enemy d2d is a weakness I don't think the deck can afford. If someone finds a 4 colors affinity deck I'll be really interested.

I could see more aggro versions of Grixis, Mardu, and Rakdos affinity dominating, while mono red burn keeps its current meta share.

@@keving.4650 if they hadn't banned cranial ram I think both the creator showdown and Paupergeddon pizza would've been overrun by RB affinity and it would be banned by now anyways lol.

Does anyone knows a discord grixis pauper group? or blogs or anything about pauper grixis. Why people are not playing always 4 sneacky ? if I play frogmite and kenku I dont play sneacky ? how many draws two for two mana do we use? 7 or 8? should we use 4 fountain to turbo affinity? If thats the case frogmite sunds better, how mane frogmites is good? Why is kenku so used? I find it not good enough. Should we use 3 or 4 ichors? whould we use toxin always? 1 or 2 main?

@@andelinvargad8861 ok, *cracks knuckles* 1: primarily because affinity is a midranged/value deck and the snackers take up 4 flex card slots that also limit the number of reckoners you can play, while also not being good at helping you stabilize. Since they reanimate tapped and further weaken the deck to graveyard hate negating the value of blood fountain. 2: frogmite isn't specifically in the snacker slot. It's typically a 2 of at most and since the primary aggro decks are rakdos and kuldotha we need additional board wipes which again limit frogmites usefulness. 3: it depends on the meta share of aggro. You would play 4 deadly 2 reckoners unless you need the lifegain. Then you'd run 3-4 reckoners to fight aggro. But to do that you need to up the 7 drop count to add value usually 1-2 gearcrafter serpent are the go to. 4: 4 fountains is usually too much since it enables too many bad top decks in the midrange when you're trying to stabilize. The typical number is 2-3 depending on how many slots you have. 5: kenku is used to maximize your lands as well as serves both defensive and offensive ways to stabilize and close the game in game 1 and more if you suspect they lack exile removal like gardens. It's slow but gives you inevitability and combines well with the answer to your last question. 6: almost always 4 ichors unless you're running extra stars for some reason like the version running actual counter spell over rebuke. And 7: toxin isnt really the go to. If anything I tend to run 1 unexpected fangs. It can outright win games against aggro when combined with both kenku or gearcrafter which are basically impossible to remove efficiently and in a pinch you can suit up a krark clan and gain a ton of life if needed. I find a 1 of is good and you can blood it away in the matchups you don't need it.

In general check the Paupergeddon Rome deck report from a few weeks ago online. There's bound to be a few well built affinity shells you can grab there.

Affinity is by far the best midrange deck. no reason to play anything else.
