The open gangways allow subway riders to walk freely between cars, a far cry from older cars separated by sliding doors. CBS New York's Elijah Westbrook reports.

You can tell Hochul has never taken the subway before. She said "you see someone more interesting to talk to, you move somewhere else", she thinks people are having a cocktail experience in the subway while commuting. These people are so out of touch.
@JohnR-wf2hh
@JohnR-wf2hh 8 ай бұрын
I agree that Hochul is out of touch, but I think that was some rhetoric on her part. She obviously knows that people are not going to be social on the train. Rather, she wants to draw your attention to how easy it is to move around now. She can't say out loud "if there is a threatening person you can move away" so she says this other scenario which still illustrates the same idea.

Good: More space to side and stand, more riders can get on, you have more options to walk away from people you want to avoid, wider doors make it easier for crowds to get in and out, harder for subway surfers to climb on top of the trains (they usually wait in between cars and as they pass through the outside or open top area, they climb up. They can’t do that now unless it’s at the station which is harder then it sounds because if the conductor sees them climb, they won’t move the train) Bad: Open train means you’ll see a lot more beggers since they can walk through the whole train easier, same for those ppl selling candy, bad smells can now spread through out the train instead of it being isolated in one car, that soft material between cars is going to get ruined or cut up the first day in NYC so rain and god knows what can get through making it uncomfortable to be in the car, what happens in one car will certainly affect Everyone on board, a fight breaks out etc.

Not having open-gangways has not stopped people from using the doors on the ends to go between subway cars. I've seen that in many U.S. cities (not just New York). It might not be safe, but if we lose a few passengers, it's Darwinism at work. Anyway, it's far from the first in North America. San Francisco and other cities have them. In Los Angeles, the new cars that are being tested are also that way.

How is it that there is more seating when now the seating near the end of each car is now gone? Personally I still prefer the seating on the D/F line that are clearly show how many people for each seat it can be. Too ofter on these wide benches it is less seating because many people spread out or esp during the winter with coats you may not want to squeeze in. And also if there is any attach or person they can just through the entire gangway now and either smell or shootuo or other and there is no escape. At least with the separate cars you can leave a train and get off to go to another car. But it is already done and paid for so eventually will see on all train line guess still enjoy the D/F lines as is for now.

I prefer the seating on the D train too. Not sure about the F train because the cars on the F and D are now different. MTA needs to fix track, subway, smells, bathroom, lighting, signals and service instead adding a New cars for $6.1M that is unnecessary and waste of public funds 😂 wonder 🤔 who's going to make that money 💰. how many politicians crooks going to get the money from this industry while they have the terrible service and delays no security control in subway systems and these crooks instead of solving problems keep upgrading somethings that doesn't help the riders who take the subway 🚇 daily. When they steal money from public they introduced us with something new and how much they going to budget for it and at the same time they junk the old cars in scrap yard still making the money that means they robbed public funds twice and public can't do nothing about it.

So we can’t replace Trains at that are almost 50 years old. & Like what if just like what happened in the late 1970s during R46 Truck Crisis Happened In the Early 2020s. If the same thing happened there’s gonna be problems on the A, C, N, Q, W, & the Rockaway Shuttle. R160s from the G will have to be put back on the N, Q & W in exchange for the R68, The rockaway Shuttle will be fine just Put Some R160s. But on the G your just Shutting It down & it will very soon have CBTC & The R68s can’t run on CBTC So again your Shutting the G Train down. & Taking the R68s from the B & D for the A, C, N, Q, & W. Your running the B & D less frequent. So we can Fix the Subway & Get new trains at the Same time. & The R211 have Security Cameras.

100+ years old tracks falling apart with its signals and services. we are just gonna add New 🚆 trains 🚂 🚃 🚃 🚃 🚃 to it to fall apart 🤯. remember not too long ago trains coming off track's in Jamaica queens & Brooklyn some of the subway buildings are more than 150 years old with cracks on them Water leaks, 🐁 in tracks every time it rains hard the subway are flooded. Just to let y'all know that Air quality in subway is Hazardous for Humanity when trains 🚂🚃🚃 Is coming to the station 🚉 it's bringing Asbestos Air quality with it under ground subways and people be breathing it 🚭. Only pressure washing the floors in subways however in side tracks sitting in asbestos dust and rotting iron beams.

@@NadimShaikh4AUTOSERVICE did You know that Rebuilding the Subway also comes with New trains. Because again if the R46 have to go out of service. Your mostly causing chaos on Certain BMT & IND routes if not the whole system by rebuilding all of it from scratch. Even if you rebuild it from scratch you’ll still have rats & & While rebuilding the Whole system from Scratch means you have a Lot of NIMBYs Opposing this & You have enormous amount of funding to rebuilt the whole system from scratch & don’t forget that it will take years of not a Decades. The 42nd street Shuttle took 4 years for it to be rebuilt & there are still rats & it probably already smells. & Besides Put somthing the Prevents parts from an Elevated Structure from falling off. & Again We can Upgrade the Subway & Buy new trains at the same time. But if your just gonna rebuild the whole Subway System from scratch then you creating Problems.

That's not true. This isn't the first articulated cars with accordian buses came in the 1990's The original cars were called The Triplex D Types built from 1925 to 1927 & retired in 1965. What I don't understand trains Of this design in Europe all have forward facing seats these new cars don't. These windows are too small on the R 211 cars. I dont like these trains at all. Half of all the stations on A & C Line don't have elevators . I am sorry I want to be able to look outside or the tunnels with the forward facing seats. The cars in Philadelphia SEPTA have cars that resemble & could've replaced the R 32 cars , Toronto Canada TTC & BART California has slanted cars, R 40 replacements ? The TA didn't even consider trains like these i mentioned. Also Wasn't considered Hamburg Germany i view these religiously those cars would be the perfect design for NYC subways definitely not the R 211 cars these trains are weird loking & a waste of money & all these trains fronts are ugly! This & The Amtrak's Aveila Yuck! 👎👎
