Never heard of this area. Learn something every day. I heard of McDonogh schools.

I see the roads are still in good shape.

Dominique Naomi depends on what you call “good”. Brooklyn Avenue is by far the worst. You have to slalom your way through to avoid the deepest holes. Fortunately, my camera stabilizes pretty well. Techs Street has always been the best maintained. And they recently filled some major holes on Nunez Street that were big enough to swallow up a small car. They currently have the streets torn up around the Point. I think it’s to repair the leaky water mains. Hopefully they won’t just dump cold patch in the holes when they’re done. Those streets haven’t been resurfaced since the mid-70s.

@@504RoadTrips I was being sarcastic. I noticed you doing the slalom during the video.

I wasn't sure how obvious it was in the video.

From about the starting point in this video, all the way through the city of Gretna, it’s right up the middle of the street. Particularly 4th Street which cuts downtown Gretna in half. It can get you jammed up for a while down by the courthouse if you happen to get caught when a long train is moving out of there. They move around 5 mph or less and may have 40 or 50 cars.

Mr mcdonogh lived in the batture? When was the levee system created?
@504RoadTrips5 жыл бұрын
The river has shifted position, even after the levees. Look at how much of Algiers Point has been lost over the last 100 years. A large section just downriver of the ferry landing in the last 5 years. As the levees begin to be compromised, they build a second levee inland and eventually, the original levee is removed or erodes away.
