Hey Kev, love the channel and hope you reach 5k soon. Jon (Thic Whips) recently blew his engine and was wondering if you could touch on rod knock on the b58 and how to prevent it. Assuming there isnt a video out already. Thanks

It's not really a common problem on the b58 but I can definitely discuss how it works and how to prevent it

@@f36_garage71 then that’s trumped up fear for zero reason. Jon’s the first person I’ve ever seen with rod knock on a B58 and I’ve been in the B58 tuning community for years. TLDR; do oil changes and don’t bear the car cold and it won’t happen.

Great videos as always! But Kern dont know if you remember me from FB or IG.. Rob Alderson , the part where you say they're pushing a lot of boost etc lol that is totally incorrect. There are many tables that BM3/HCP is defining and improving over time to make more power safely. Remember its an OTS so they cannot push "A LOT OF BOOST" & there is no torque limits in the fuel pump. The fuel pump allows more flow of fuel which translate to being able to making more power safely. The flat torque curve is a tuning strategy to provide better balance of power. This is also safer for the engine and internals. If they were pushing a lot of boost you will see a HIGHER torque curve and Spike. Just FYI... Keep up the great content!

If it wasn't a lot of boost the people wouldn't be experiencing fuel pressure dips on ots maps. That's why you need to run logs to confirm safety performance. The flat torque curve is indicative of riding the limits of the fuel pump. Then you ramp up boost and timing towards redline as more fuel becomes available. Works great on one car, but not guaranteed to work for all. So yes, i said what I said and I meant it

I’m BM3 stage 1 93 version 2.1 no other supporting mods. I just saw on my BM3 account page the new version 2.2 93 stage 1 map. descriptions says 550nm trq limitation on gearbox disabled Trq is calibrated for higher load.... And about 4 other points or improvements Is this what you’re talking about? If so I’m wondering if I should update my 2.1 up to this 2.2? I haven’t heard anyone talking about this anywhere except you. Release date says 12/14/21

Yes. You can try it out and run logs to confirm it's running well on your car.

Do you think running logs is necessary being I’m only stage 1 and all the research that was done before release? It’s just that I’m not very knowledgeable with doing logs let alone interpretation. I’m good at ekgs not this stuff!

Yea man I know that. I was around 16 years ago in the Subaru scene when I could of learned about tuning and logging but unfortunately I didn’t. Too bad there isn’t a tuning class! But I think what I’ll do is check out others experiences with this new version first. Guess it’s the least I can do. Oh btw I have occasional idle stumbles after fill ups ( used to top off but no longer ) but continue to have the idle stumble at stoplights after filling up. No codes no cel .... should I just replace the breather valve that sits on the manifold and hope that it fixes that?

How safe would an e30 mix on 93 with a catless downpipe with this new ots map? What would you say to keep an eye on if someone was to pursue this? (Gen 1 fuel pump)

Run the map for whatever fuel you want to run

E20-E25 is fine on 93, for E30 you might as well and run E30 map. Sometimes you will get Mixture too lean if you have too much E85 on 93 map.

Yes. And technically map switching is provisioned, if you hold the cruise button it starts the map selection.

The BM3 FlexFuel for B58 is shipping soon. That will allow you to have E40 in the tank and take full advantage of it with BootMod3 FlexFuel MultiMap OTS tunes. Been using it on N55 EWG and it works great!
