I once rode shotgun in a C8 with a local chap here in the UAE and I recall him mentioning that he will pick the C8 over his other exotic sports cars just because it was so much easier to drive and maneuver in traffic on a daily basis. I gained huge respect for the Corvette since that day. Great job, GM!

Z51 is a bit quicker light to light, but slower in the top end speed. Wondering what they did with the TR9080 in the ZR1? Is it the same version from the Z06 which supposedly has a magnesium case instead of aluminum? Did they change some gear ratios too? or is this new top speed just based on the higher engine RPM while in 8th gear?

The Corvette line has become the wannabe Porsche with the price tag to match. The E-Ray cannot use its' front electric drive past 150 mph, so it has a 183 mph top end vs. the 195 mph top end of the Z06. Both have similar power, but the Z06 has a huge top speed advantage.

Unfortunately professional race cars have almost nothing to do with the street cars you can buy. I don''t really care who wins in pro racing. Might as well race airplanes with most of their wings cut off. It's mostly a waste of corporate money. The latest on the GM racing scene is that DEI (didn't earn it) is on the upswing = bad news. So don't look for too many wins. The cars I can actually buy and use mean much more to me. All the C8 models are great which is all that matters.

@@swiftyy7583 You kind of prove my point...For the specs you're getting on the new ZR1 and the proven track performance of the design, they absolutely could get $500K....maybe the production numbers would be lower, but consider the 2nd Gen Ford GT which first listed for about $450K back in 2016. They stopped production of those in 2022 and they only made about 1300 of them total. I think most people think of the GT as a hyper-car. Chevy will probably produce between 3000-5000 of the ZR1's , which I think is amazing that so many people could get their hands on such an amazing car. If they raised the price to $500K and they sold only 1500 of them, would that put it into hyper-car territory? If not, my next question would be, "What constitutes a hyper-car?"

Yeah well there's 0 chance the Callaway wasnt a rock chip away from taking flight since it only had 880 hp.up. 250mph normally requires 1,000+ so the Callaway had to be super low drag and basically no downforce. New zr1 is heavily limited due to downforce which makes the power way more usable

Lloyd Reuss pushed development of the 1984-1987 Buick Grand Nationals. He was moved to head up Pontiac and pushed development of the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am. Now his son Mark Reuss supported development of the 2025 ZR1. When I get a chance to order one in a couple of years, I will have all 3 of the "Reuss Family" collection of GM turbocharged cars.

The zora will have quicker acceleration but likely same exact top speed, it will be heavier.

Every time Chevy releases a stat on this car it’s shock and awe, blowing the guestimations of bloggers, KZbinrs and magazines out of the water. Can’t wait for a 1/4 mile time and some track times. Great job Chevrolet and GM. What a job Ruess has, only CEO of a car manufacturer I can think of that deserves that kind of money, only one I know of that is an actual test driver for the company. This is so big Jeff Gordon is there!

I've got a 2018 Corvette Z06, and I used to feel bad when i would see the newer models which started in 2020. I don't feel like that anymore because i have realized that owning a Corvette is something special, no matter which year model you own.
