New Owners of a Class A & Jeep Wrangler!! A NEW RV JOURNEY BEGINS!

Today’s vlog we go pick up our new HOME (2004 Itasca Meridian 36G) and our new Family Car (2018 Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon w/Recon Edition)!! Driving something as BIG as a Class A for the 1st time can be scary!! To over come that fear you just got jump in a go!! It reminds me of towing the 5th wheel for the 1st time and how nervous I was! The Jeep was a different story!! We was so excited like it was Christmas morning!! But on our way home with the Jeep we pass places when we started off on our journey that took us back to those days when we jumped all in to this RV Living and what the differences where then and now!
The big difference is y’all who have become close friends and supporters and encouragers to us! We’ve meet some amazing people and can’t wait to meet so many more new faces!!

I'm assuming the class A is on a heavy truck chassis and it has heavy truck brakes. If so, the squeaking is normal and it will happen at low speeds. It's also possible the brakes just have surface rust if it's been sitting for awhile. If so the squeezing will stop as soon as you begin driving it regularly.

Most always there is an arrow pointing beside the gas symbol on the dashboard in all vehicles. It looks like a triangle but it actually indicates which side the gas tank is on. ☺️

No. The seat is a Bestop for a CJ.. those are not as wide. The frame for the seat was all custom from a welder I know. I’ll show it all in a few weeks in a vlog.

Nice! Just a word to the wise... make sure the driver's seat is far enough forward to move the slide in and out. (speaking from experience) We've had class-a's for years. In January we bought our 1st diesel. Another learning curve for us. Love the ride though! Safe travels!

The squeaking noise is the brakes. If it sits to long for a period. They will do that. Just always try if you all possibly can, not let your fuel tank get below half a tank. I remember the first time I got up and made a sandwich for my husband while driving. It was a whole new experience. And going to the bathroom was a adventure. He just happened to go around a big curve when I came out. Needless to say I almost went flying. Lol. It takes practice on moving around. You don't want to be going back to your seat if a policeman is near. Lol. Be safe out there. People think the RV'ERS can stop on a dime. And turn in front of you or pull out in front of you. We have had so many close calls. And being stuck in traffic and easing up with them can be stressful. I have chewed off a lot of fingernails. Lol.

Yes I’m sure that walking around will be a challenge. However we won’t be doing it very often unless necessary. And yes I got my experience of other drivers cutting in front or hitting their brakes when we had the 5th wheel.

I am ecstatic that you guys went with a Class A, always remember that tail swing (I hear that gets a lot of people). We always have some board games for the kids at the Dinette, like Battleship or mind puzzles. Kids travel so much better in a Class A. It will be awesome to see how you guys modify the jeep, I never thought of adding extra seats. So that will be awesome to see. 😊 Our kids are 9,7,4,2 and 7 months, so we have to have activities and Third row seating.

We took our first motorhome road trip last month from Minnesota to Galveston and San Antonio it took Bob that entire trip to get used to the wind pushing the rv around. It didn’t help driving the God awful Houston freeway system. Anxiously awaiting your video with kids in RV. ENJOY

Most of the diesel pushers are built on Freightliner chassis. 03:00 The brake squeals is a normal thing on the larger vehicles like that (I have been driving trucks for 11+ years now) and it shouldn't be anything to worry about. You can either check the brakes yourself (they should be visible if you look underneath the vehicle across to the other side wheels) or have a service shop take a look at them. The rear brakes should be drums and you should easily see the brake shoes. Look for a slot in the middle of the shoes on each side. The slot is a wear indicator so you know when you need to service them. The fronts may be disc or drum and either one should have similar slots to check the wear. Even though it says it is an "automatic" it is more like an automatically shifted manual transmission. One of the most important things on those larger vehicles is to make sure the steer tires (front tires) are ALWAYS in good shape. If you have to replace one or both then NEVER use retreads on them. If a steer tire blows you MUST resist the urge to hit the brake pedal. If you touch the brake pedal it will jerk the steering wheel towards the side with the blown tire and likely flip the RV.

I was laughing at the beginning of the video, only because I looked just like you 3 weeks ago when we drove ours off the lot! 😂 Check out the Safe-T Plus steering stabilizer for motorhomes and look at the reviews. I’ve got one going on mine the week after next. Huge difference going down the road with semis passing you. and provides much more control in the event of a front tire blowout.

So glad ya found us too!! Yes Plexus is our primary income. We do have other small amounts of income from other ventures too. The expense amount will depend on how much you travel and how much you eat out! The longer you stay in one spot and cook yourself, the cheaper it will be.

So about the lights... the previous owner messed up the original engine so an 2008 CAT engine replaced it. The lights are saying check engine because of low coolant. Which it’s not low because you can see the coolant in the rear. So the diesel tech thinks the newer engine and the original ECM are not matching up properly to give the error code.

if the question was which side you fill from . You can fill from either side but if you fill from a truck stop you can fill from both sides the same time to save time. The brakes squeal from surface rust on the brake pads , once they wear off the squeal will stop. But if I could ever give you a piece of advice while filling your coach and your family is laying down or out of the coach while you fill up , always lock your door. Especially if you leave the engine running. Most of the time you will fill your coach from the drivers side. You can't see the other side as to what is going on . And you don't know if someone gets in your coach and maybe hides or just drives off. So I've always made it a part of my checklist. Also keep your door locked while traveling through cities. You come to traffic light or stop sign and someone wants to high jack you. Today you can't be to careful. I hope that you will at least entertain the thought . I'm happy for you all.

You can purchase a steering stabilizers for the front end to help you with the winds and passing or being passed by semi trucks. You can read about them almost anywhere and on KZbin. STAY SAFE . Don

I am full time my self My first Class A was a 2007 Winnebago Tour it was 37 ft 3 slides 400 Cummins with 19000 miles I paid $89,900.00 In 2019 I bought a 2014 Newmar King Air 4 slide 46 ft Tag Axle12000 miles I paid $239,900.00 What I am saying before I did anything I went to a truck stop Petro I had New Brakes all new Michlin Tires . I went to a Cummins dealer had diagnostics ram I took it had it washed and waxed . I did that to both rigs I sold my first Rig for 10,000.00 more than what I paid for it . The couple were like you guys first Class A it was a 2007 but we had pit new Coaches from winnebago we ripped all the carpet put Hard woods Put new TVs professionally done at Winnebago This Newmar it was Perfect the day we bought it I am 67 when I turn 70 i am going to Order me a New Grand Tour with 600 Cummins Get your coach looked at from the start

As a DP owner, I'm concerned with the yellow lights on the dash and the brake squealing when backing. Rule #1, make sure you're aired-up before moving. You may want to have a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizing system installed. You're driving a high, flat-sided box so anything you can do to help is great. I trailer tow a car because I'm not crazy about the ride quality of a Jeep.

About the lights.. it’s an ECM issue (we believe) because the engine is a CAT 2008 (something happened to the 04) and the diesel tech believes I need a new ECM to pair up with the newer engine. It’s saying we have low coolant but it’s not low. The brake squeaking was due to it sitting for a while prior to us picking it up. As for a Jeep, we love off-roading and trail riding.. so it was the obvious choice for us! Thanks for watching!!

If you'll look at your gas gauge there should be an arrow. That arrow points to the side your gas fill up is located. This is standard on 99% of vehicles.

We flat tow a Wrangler, if we are perfectly straight, I can back up several feet and just watch the camera to make sure that the Jeep wheels aren’t turning, seems doable for short distance so far.

I drive a truck for a living and the best thing you can do is use your wife as a spotter while backing up. Driver side staying in your mirror. Walkie talkies for communication. Or established hand signals. Be aware and safe. You'll be fine
