I love the process, however, in my instance regarding my insurance agency re my home owners insurance. I rec'd a letter stating my home owners insurance co was cancelling all home owners insurance in my state. I took your advice, called my insurance agent, the entire staff had changed. The receptionist would not let me speak to an insurance agent, told me what I needed to do and thank God I found another insurance company who told me I didn't need what the receptionist told me and this new insurance agency (45+ yrs family owned) was and is wonderful. I write all this to say this, Stay in contact with your agent quarterly or semi yearly but never wait until a problem happens and keep copies of your insurance policies in a safe place.

Oh my, what a shocking letter to receive! Yes, keeping in contact is such an important aspect. Even to call you’re agent and ask for an insurance review every year! Gets the ball rolling for continuing talks over the years and keeps you coved for the season of life you’re currently in, instead of where you were at a decade ago. We do keep our current insurance paperwork, but shredded the old/cancelled papers from years ago. Thanks for watching and hope it helped! 🏡

Your video is very helpful, especially with specific items to discard/keep. I really liked that! I have been watching many filing videos to get inspiration for tackling my stuffed file cabinets, but yours is the only one that has given actual help. Thank you so much! Just subscribed to your channel as well. 😺

I really appreciate your details on which papers to discard. I have SO much old paperwork that I’ve started to go through and shred. It’s a long process but I’m determined to simplify my life. Great video! Thanks.

Actually, the first step is to have your husband agree to do the paper organizing. Not only will my husband not agree to this, but the system I set up, he refuses to follow. Congrats on a job very well done!

It can be really frustrating when couples are not on the same page, I’m so sorry that’s where you’re at right now. Hopefully soon you two will be on the same page! Nothing worse than 30 years of paperwork to go through (hence the video, lol!). Good luck with everything!! 🍀

@@SilverLiningDayDreams LOL, it's been over 30 years. At a point, you have to accept other people's shortcomings and find a way to not lose your sanity...or my sanity, in this case.

I have been looking doe video like this. I have not done much about the paper work bec I revamped it several times in different ways and either too details or micro and could not keep up with it while raising my new born at that time.... . How about my piled off recipes that I printed and could not be printed unless I join the membership again which I tried not to do to join a membership for 1 recipe . That is my trouble....... I also printed a lot of work sheets for my son to learn and practice. I just want them to be handy and pull them out easily. Finding a work sheets on mine is not as easy and fast as people say....

What about older medical doctors or medical histories? Surgical procedures or Social Security disability histories? I have lengthy medical records and SSID records
@SilverLiningDayDreams Жыл бұрын
Please, only shred what you are comfortable with! But since you’re asking and if it were me (🙂), I would keep the SSI/SSID documentation, medical and legal records that support the governmental decision. Any other simple medical records that are stored at the clinic/hospital I received care, I let them store the information for me. I have not found that I have ever needed to reference paper copies for old doctors or surgeries. I have however looked on MyChart to see when I had a particular surgery. Another idea is to create a document that has highlights only. For example: ER visit, St.Mary’s Hospital Madison, 1/1/2021, gall bladder removal, Dr. JR Johnson. Of course if you’re concerned, you can also scan the documents and store on an external hard drive. These are only suggestions for you to consider! Be well!! 🪴
