Guys, it's 2023 now. What micro usb is on the battery, it's high time to switch to type c.
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
Why? What would the benefit be? There is no data transfer required and USB C is quite a bit bigger. Having to put that in would make the battery bigger I guess. I think Petzl's goal was to create a smaller en more powerful light.
@hensemzp1 Жыл бұрын
@The Rope Access Channel At least type C is more convenient, especially when connecting the cable in the dark. All modern devices comes with type C and it is easier and more convenient to have one type of cable for all devices.
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
@@hensemzp1 I can get behind that, but it would mean the battery would be quite a bit bigger. I rather have a small light. Most devices with USBC I know use that same plug also for a data connection. Do you have a device where it charges through USBC without data transfer? Like a light? For me it is al phones, camera's, computers. I think that is the power of USBC fast data transfer. (and easy to plug in too 😉)

@@TheRopeAccessChannel JBL has switched to USB-C for charging their speakersets. Adding USB-C to the battery would mean that it's going to be just a few millimeters bigger if any at all. Upside is that with most USB-C devices things like power delivery are possible which means the device communicates with the charger about voltage and wattage so the charging can be more efficient and thus faster. I do like the idea of charging the battery instead of the headlight though so you can get spare batteries and still have a working lamp when one battery runs out of power.

On the first version of the Pro Traxion you had to clip the lower hole to ensure that it was locked securely and couldn’t open to allow the rope to come out. I recall reading about an accident that happened when a climber failed to do this while climbing in Zion National Park. The second Pro Traxion was a large step forward and a killer device.
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
exactly! That was the thing we were talking about!! Well done! I think I was as stoked for that second Pro Traxion as I am now for this one with swivel. Come to think of it, right now I am more stoked haha

Did you get to go home with all those products?!?! Will we be watching you test any out in future videos? I have been watching all your pulley videos a lot lately. You helped me set up a 5:1 and 2:1 that equaled a 10:1 system to pull a backwards leaning tree over. I had a decent amount of resets bust worked flawless. On my initial setup I had my load in the wrong place in the system, so what I thought was mechanical advantage was just a change in direction. Also was able to compound pulley systems to multiply force. Watching from Louisiana

New Petzl products are always exciting. They don’t seem to release a huge number of new products with the ones that they do tending to be well thought out. I’m really looking forward to the new Traxion models coming in June. Having an integrated swivel with the Pro Traxion will be great. Similarly the new Mini Traxion will provide much of the benefits of the Pro Traxion (no swivel) but is close to 100 grams lighter! I would really like to add this one to my hauling kit (progress capture pulley + a 2:1 hauling ratchet in a small vinyl bag) to be used for the main progress capture pulley. The new tool bags look really sharp. Finally someone is actually using a one handed cord lock on an accessory bag for climbing/rope access. That feature makes getting one a requirement for me. The Twin Release is a really cool device. I would like to see a single pulley version. Having the friction controlled lowering functionality would be really slick

Hey there, nice gear you showed of, but I'd love to see a usb-c port on that battery to ditch the micro usb cable from my back!
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
By looking at the USBC plug I think the battery would have been twice as thick. I'd rather have a smaller and lighter light. Besides the cable is included and it is just a small cable. Keep that at your charging station. Not a big deal for me. And I have a lot of those micro usb cords lying around.
@hongotopiadada7574 Жыл бұрын
@@TheRopeAccessChannel yea, would need some creative engineering, maybe next to the battery or the button... I don't know but I really don't like having a lot of legacy cables with me... I also do not think that it was necessary to build the charger into the battery for the rare ocation were you charge one while using the other, that just raises prices and e-wast...

@TheRopeAccessChannel also with usb-c the port on the device wears out because the retainers are in the port. Micro-usb has the retainers on the cord end, so when it wears you can just replace the cord.

Need your help guys, On the Petzl Falcon Mountain, The loop at the rear of the harness, Can that also be used for Abseiling/Rock Climbing? Is it the same type of loop as the one on the front? Cheers guys all the best, awesome video.

Good question… The best answer is RTFM. It is in there for sure. It is a EN358 point. Meaning work positioning or work restrain. Not ideal for falling or abseiling. Definetely strong enough though haha. You wouldnt want to use it that way though.. Every question like this is usually answered by reading the manual.

I did stunts in the past when I was younger and we just got our regular climbing harness and clip the tuber straight to the back of the hip belt. That works. Usually we extended it a bit on a doubled up 60 cm sling for more control. Not certified and for stunts you get away with a lot more. Or maybe I should say you could get away with…..

I ope Petzl are keeping the Pixa head lamps they are by far my favourite work lamp. 2AA batteries 👌 built like a tank 👌 Big easy to use switch 👌 But most importantly the think I like the most is it's not too bright, you can actually see what you are doing because it not overly flooded with light. 👌👌👌 More work lights need to think about this, in my opinion, it is far easier to work without that big hot spot most light give you so they can say they are more powerful than the competition.
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
That is a very good point about the brightness. I did not get to test it in actual darkness so I don't know the least bright setting. With a lot of supervise work, I do like that a light has a long throw as to be able to see what my guys are doing 20 meters away in a tank and I am curious to see how it is to work with close up. The build quality does feel strong. Those Pixa's are indestructible! Time will tell if the Aria matches that

@@balcomoz I think that’s the thing, we all have different dimensions, clothing matters too and even then sometimes in the morning everything is ok and after lunch it doesn’t sit right. @TheRandomSpectator Жыл бұрын
@@TheRopeAccessChannel I've got the Swift RL, so I like their headlamps, and yes they are bright, but I can't understand why they insist on using micro USB instead of Type C in 2023. I have almost no micro cables around anymore, and it's an objectively worse connector in every way. The only thing I can think of of is that micro's licensing fee is cheaper, but they could even use C as a marketable selling point at this point. It's silly.
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
@@TheRandomSpectator I think that is the most common comment I have been receiving. And I agree with what you say. My first thought was that using a micro USB would keep the battery a bit smaller. It looks like that a few mm's does add up in overall size. But i might be wrong. I still have powerbanks, camera's, speakers, charging stations that all use micro USB so personally it is not a big deal. That said, it would be great if everything moved to USB C and we only need one type of cable for every mobile device!
