And there isn't a person who consider himself a car guy or a person who really enjoys driving as an activity/hobby.. you know, driving for the fun of it..who would rather be in a hybrid big estate instead of a proper driver's car. And no, the financial argument of owning only one car does not stand when the car in discussion is 56k. Any real person who enjoys driving, having "only" 56k for a new car, would take a 35k type R(or a GR), get a 10-15k good family carrier from the second-hand market and with the remaining 5k would plan a 2 weeks tour through the Alps on some of the best driving roads the world has ever seen. Everything else is pure BS and ppl finding excuses for anything. edit. I said gr and the type R as I was reffering to proper driver's cars available from showroom floors. @@AR-zr1om Oh, i dont mind if you would bad mouth it. I loved the concept of it but at this kind of power level/price its kind of in the middle of nowhere it loses to anything you would compare it to. Unless you are realy into the styling (wich i am) but i dont think that alone is worth the premium

I like how @1:18 you can see the poor fit of the boot / trunk against the rear lights. And then he mentions factory stickers peeling. Classic Peugeot!

My opinion is that a BMW M340i Station Wagon is much more appealing , especially giving the fact that they are in a similar price range.

Am I missing something here, Merc C300e estate and BM 330e touring........both considerably cheaper and arguably as good to look at?

An alternative to tutonic cars, i have always avoided german cars because they are commont and a bit dull. I dont like french motors either lol

@Mark Jackson The Mercedes and BMW cars are not better looking cars they may have a history of producing nice luxury cars but they are not as nice to look at.

That's just incorrect. This is the good looking car in the segment.

Great video as always, but I'd rather get have Taycan Cross Turismo.

People who shops for 508 would never consider a Taycan. Similarly, those who are looking for Taycan wouldn't even look for a 508 as a daily driver. Two different market places.

I'd rather have a McLaren F1 than my Cayman. You're talking about something MUCH more expensive, not really a useful comparison.

I agree although the green accents look daft. I'd be wrapping them if I had one and taking off the 508 badge on the front.

Another interesting video . Love the concept but its too expensive, best to wait a year and buy used it’ll drop like a stone . At 32-33k its a good buy . Ill wait for the GolfR Estate .

The price is not the issue with that car. It simply will not appeal to the target audience with the small 1.6 litre engine because with that engine it will not have the desired luxury feel. While it might be sporty and fast it will simply not appeal. If they created that package in a Coupe car that was marketed as a sports car it may appeal to the buyers. BMW and Audi now dominate that segment of the market when in the past it used to be Citroën, Peugeot, Opel and Vauxhall.

@@bighands69 i think the price plays a major part ...frogmobiles have never been 50+ k and are more susceptible to huge depreciation historically . Lots of manufactures are hiding small yet efficient engines ie Audi 30, 35, 40 ect . Design and brand image are still 90% of sales. I think Peugeot are brave launching this car but they’ve got the price tag wrong unless its a marketing ploy they never really expected to build numbers of . The look of the car and its potential performance ( which 95% of buyers never use) are very tempting i recently came out of a 520d estate which was a nightmare (9 warranty claims from brand new in 3 years) to have replaced it wouldn’t have been far off 50K.

@@neilcollins5930 We are in strange market times with European auto manufacturers being boxed in by EU regulations. It is simply a fact that European car manufacturers cannot compete with Asian manufacturers on price. PSA group has a decision to make and clearly they are setting out their stall in they want to get back into the luxury segment of the market that they used to be in. Cheaper lower quality cars simply is a difficult market for European manufacturers to be in. At one point Citroen and Peugeot were on a par with the likes of Audi. Price does not matter when they are aiming for the luxury market as Volvo have already shown by their switch. The issue with this estate is the fact it is a performance car with a 1.6 litre engine which would be fine in a smaller luxury coupe but not a larger executive family sized car. The performance of this car will not appeal to European middle class who will be buying the car on finance and keeping for several years as a luxury car. manufacturers

@@bighands69 Stellantis the owner of Peugeot collectively sold 4.3 million cars in 2019 , 2020 will have shown a drop however the collective power of the group with its massive data will show them what is worth making . I still believe the 508 SW Sport is aimed at the 30-35 year old family group with high combined family income , however i still believe its too expensive for the majority of this sector . This group are completely relaxed with all forms of tech and will relish the fact that a 1.6 litre engine powers the car. Older people are now some of the biggest purchasers of EV’s.

As usual Peugeot marketeers had to be sniffing some glue before setting prices. "Know your damn place, trash." Nice looking cars right now. Ridiculous prices. Decent review with a proper car journalist ending.
@bighands693 жыл бұрын
The price is not the problem it is a luxury car the issue is the choice of engine. At one point the likes of Audi could not hold a candle to Citroën and they were considered overpriced. At some point Peugeot and the French manufacturers have to start producing executive luxury cars again and this is not the time to try.
