New Phnom Penh International Airport - Cambodia | Drone Footage

One of the most ambitious airport construction projects currently underway is the New Phnom Penh International Airport located about 30-40 kilometers south of the capital Phnom Penh in Kandal Province. Slated for completion in 2025, the new Phnom Penh airport will span 2,600 hectares (6,400 acres) making it one of the largest airports in the world. The $1.5 billion project broke ground in 2019 and will replace old Phnom Penh International Airport for all commercial international flights when operational.

When I first arrived in Cambodia in 1994, Pol Pot was still fighting on the border with Thailand, and you just didn't know where they would start. When I left two years later , things were really moving forward, but to see this now is just outstanding. I must go back to take a look.

Nice one. However, for the fact that it will be the ninth largest airport in the world once it's completed, I don't think it's correct for the 1st phase. It sounds more like, when all phases of the airport complete, not at this stage.

Nice to read english description of the upcoming international airport :) The best overview so far about current construction process. Will this airport finally offering direct fights to cambodia? A big airport alone will not increase tourism, so also a great infrastructure and contacts to many foreign airlines as well as increasing the cambodian owned airline is highly needed. Will they also build a train station from this airport to Phnom Penh city center?

But there are many factors to increase tourism such as one country's culture and history, safety, friendly budget with standard service that tourists can spend from low to high according to their destinations, food & entertainment, types of tourism (cultural, heritage, natural & eco, or night-time tourism). - The infrastructure that contributes to the New Phnom Penh Airport has been built overs years. That infrastructure includes Monivong flyover, street 60m, street 50m, national road 02, and many roads that are built around the new airport. - There is an announce that Chinese firm Guangzhou Metro Group is going to build the metro train system (MRT) that connects Phnom Penh to this New Phnom Penh International Airport where launching date is in 2025.

Cambodia Airport Investment, a joint venture 90 percent owned by Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), one of the country's largest real estate developers, and 10 percent by the government's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, plans to invest the $1.5 billion to construct the new airport.
