Two experiences last month that relates to this: when picked up I ordered a bolt without a problem and picked up where you indicated. The driver asked for cash for the ticket to get out of the garage. He had issues on exit. I think I gave him a euro, but did notice the fee on the bolt invoice. Also, when dropped back off by an Uber, the driver didn’t end the ride. I noticed this as I was walking inside but there was nothing I could do. About 20 minutes later he ended the ride adding another 20 euro to the trip. I immediately contacted Uber who corrected the amount to the original agreed amount. So it seems like you have to watch for scams even with these companies. We too had about 50% cancellation using Bolt.

Thanks so much for taking the time to update the new location. This was extremely helpful to know since i am going to Lisbon Feb 22/24 and saw another video but it's locaton was different...and i gather the video being a year or so was old compared to your recent a couple months ago...really appreciate the information. In November 2023, and had 4 to 5 Uber cancelations after ride was accepted. Was ready to grab a cab. Similar experience for a hotel 2 miles away from airport. Low fares, make sure you tip.

So true. It is common to have cancelations here. Easily 30% of the rides we order get canceled. That is over a 4 year period of living here. Thankfully, a taxi stand is one block away, so we often take taxis.

In June, this is where I was picked up from Uber, but Bolt was outside. I think it was the “Kiss and Fly” zone. Portugal was interesting, they have different rules for taxis, Uber, and Bolt, in different cities. The country is obviously adjusting to the surge in tourism.

In Lisbon I take the subway and public transportation! I was just in Porto and the taxi worked great...Uber/Bolt require CC info and I don't go for that!! I guess I'm old school , but I got burned once, not twice with Bla bla car! Taxi system works great in Lisbon as well from my experience! I prefer my car though...

Do they have FREE wifi in Lisbon? And will it reach the Carpark Uber area so I don't need to get SIM card?

They have free WIFI at the Airport, so you can get an Uber without needing a SIM Card. I would recommend getting the Uber just outside of the parking garage, you still get the signal in the garage from the airport, but it starts to weaken quickly once you leave the actual airport near the Starbucks.

A couple weeks ago we arrived in Lisbon from Madeira. We went to the garage pickup point noted here before ordering our Bolt. The guy showed up at Kiss-And-Fly (KaF). Since we couldn't find and get there fast enough, he cancelled us as no-shows costing us 4 euro. We then found KaF, ordered the Bolt from there and were picked up promptly by a car that was already there. On return to the airport, we were dropped at KaF (which is what I set as our destination). So at least in May 2024 both pickup locations are still active for Bolt. As a side note we took 15 trips of varying length on Bolt in Porto/Funchal/Lisbon/Sintra and were pleased with the service and price.

Great info. Over 4.5 years, there have been several changes to the pickup/drop off points at the airport. I wish the airport would simplify and say, if you are going to the airport, Uber and Bolt drop you off at Kiss and Fly lot. If you are picking up at the airport, all rides start in the parking garage.

No going until Sept. 2024 so #1 I hope I can remember this and #2 I hope they don't change it again! Saddened by some of the other comments about bogus charges and high rates of cancellations. Still, everyone I know who has been there has just loved Portugal.

Well, there are high rates of cancellation across Portugal. Does not matter whether it is Uber or Bolt, 50%-75% of the time we use either, there is at least one cancellation. When it rains, closer to 90%. And yes, let's hope they do not change it again. The pickup/dropoff point has changed 4 times since we moved in 2019.
