Started playing just before the free fly week, and my first experience flying was a cross system QT from Alistair to Area18, as I wanted to see the tram Morphologis talked about in an earlier video. Somehow, I managed to jump out of my ship in warp and was stranded millions of km from any system. However, a good samaritan picked me up in his Aquila, and got me back to the planet. This experience made me realize how great of a community star citizen has! Everyone is just here to have fun, and because nothing is really permanent here there really isn't much to risk/gain just yet. Just a friendly community looking to make the game better!

Recently a friend mentioned SC which reminded me to log back in and give it another look. Took off, left the arms armistice zone; got insta ganked. Rekt! Reddit told me I had a legacy ship / account and to upgrade the Aurora to something a bit more epic but your info here is very well timed. EDIT: Yeh so the cave mission is BEYOND difficult. Finding the dude is impossible and getting stuck between crawl space is almost a guarantee but worst of it is, trying to holster anything might just result in dropping the mining tool! Sebastian Gorzki Up to you mate. I personally pledge 5 days ago and had a lot of fun discovering these planets, atmosphere, locations with live in it. I have been playing Elite Dangerous more 1000+ hours, Everspace also ... yes, SC is in alpha and you can expect some crashes, bugs and glitches but it is already very enjoyable. This is my newby experience having played about 15 hours.

As much fun as it potentially is right now, there are a few things the game *needs* to have for me to be comfortable playing it. First on that list is persistence. I'm not a fast player by any sense of the word, so it's important for me that an MMO not suddenly reset if I vanish for a month or so (and more power to those not bothered by this). SC has a few other hurdles beyond that before I'd be willing to buy, but that's the main one. I won't rule out buying it before the official release, but not before persistence.

Han Lockhart that right there makes no sense. You don’t save money if you buy it later hahaha literally just today I bought the game why? Because I know I’m eventually gonna buy it so I might as well get it now. Such great wisdom that somehow I’m losing money by buying it today opposed to a year and half when it’s fully released. I’m also giving the money when they need it most.

I did the same with the same result. As far as I can tell it doesn't make much of a difference. You will have to go and do the bounty hunter mission before getting the mining tool. I did the bounty hunter mission with the Mustang Alpha. It was doable, but it will probably be easier with the Avenger Titan.

My friend just told me about this game last night and I just started installing it and its almost done downloading. I've played eve online but you have me worried about all this player attacking you this that and the other. I hate open world pvp.
@RebeccaLyn4 жыл бұрын
@@kambu_ch3127 I played eve online for 3 months back in 2014, and I never got attacked in the game ever, but I was I guess always in a high security area and had a friend who played with me and we never played without one another. So I always had another person with me. I haven't played it since. So your point is moot!

Thanks for this video. I've been following you for a while. I finally got off the fence a few days ago and pledged. After watching several videos the consensus I gathered was to immediately upgrade to the Avenger Titan which I did. I'm glad to see I made a good choice. Lucky for me I've played Elite Dangerous for a few years and the flight controls are very similar. The only thing I had some trouble with was the fidgety course plotting for Quantum Travel. Speaking of which one important thing you forgot to mention Morphologis, don't forget to refuel while docked. Other than that I'm just stunned and amazed that it isn't a slide show on my puny GTX 970.

Just as an update for new players, like myself. You now spawn in Area 18, not Port Olisar. You can take a quick jog across the street from the Adira Falls Apartments (where you spawn), to Cubby Blast. Here you can pick up the mining tool, with attachment and some light armor (in the form of the CDS PAB-1 set). You can't however, get the rucksack here. This should still make things a lot quicker to get you started.

Really nice video, as usual. Here's an easier / faster / less random method of making those sweet credits: 1) Start the game with the Aurora, as you are not able to place boxes on the mustang, yet (afaik). 2) Get to your ship and fly straight to Grim Hex (other locations might be ok for this method too, but I think this is the nearest to the starting area) 3) Once landed, go to Contracts -> Personal -> Delivery 4) Search for two missions that will pay 7694 credits that require you to go to the same place (usually "The orphanage" or "Reclamation and Disposal Orinth"). Also make sure that both start from Grim Hex. 5) Move the two boxes to your Aurora (do this fast as the ship de-spawns after being a while on the landing pad, and the mission gets bugged a the box was on the ship) 6) Fly to the delivery location. This shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. You can't quantum drive to the exact delivery location, so make sure you QT to the nearest possible POI. Then slowboat towards the delivery location, making sure you stay out of the atmosphere as much as possible. 7) Land and deliver the two boxes, making a total profit of 15k+ credits. 8) Hold the suicide button (default backspace), and wake up back at GrimHex in a couple of seconds. Reclaim your ship and repeat from Step 3, making ~45k credits per hour, maybe even more if you have faster ships.

I wish this really were a beginner guide, however, there are far too many assumptions made for it to be so. 1. A beginner is likely to start with the lowest ships. 2. "Once you exit your ship..." How the frack do I even stand up to get out of the pilot seat so that I CAN exit. (I figured it out eventually.) I could go on and on, but the point is that this "beginner's guide" is really only for people who are already familiar with the systems and aren't really beginners. How about doing an actual guide for beginners? So far my experience in SC has been entirely frustrating, including asking questions in chat and getting slammed for being a noob.

Also, I too asked a lot of questions on my first fly... I do not share your experiences for being slammed as a noob. Perhaps they had a bad day? I was helped, guided, and this worked out pretty well. My biggest mistake was starting to type in chat without hitting the enter key first, which got me exiting my ship a few 100 ft above a planet, me dying on the surface. Falling down I had the best of times with people supporting me in chat, and we laughed it off, as many more had made this rookie mistake. We all learn through our experiences. I truly hope you have a better experience soon. Take it from me, the community is extremely helpful ☺

The only thing I did not like about this guide was that you started with an Avenger. I get it - it´s the best "starter" to have on your account, but it´s an advanced starter and most people that are new to the game either have an Aurora or a Mustang. That said, great video. The quality is amazing as always, keep up the good work!

Shifty the aurora is working fine too, but the avenger is really a way better and more immersive solo experience I think.

Wow, that footage of the game is incredible, was a joy to watch. There are definitely issues with this initial iteration of procedural space stations as they are confusing to find where you want to go, but I am sure it will improve over the course of development. It is nice to have each station with unique elements so you get to know each one, even though that is by having to walk around it 10 times in order to find your way in or out, at least there is great eye candy.
