3:16 fun fact: in the relatively...okishly known Pokémon-like monster tamer "Temtem", there's a Tem in the game called Anahir that evolves when maximizing the TVs (which are basically that game's version of EVs), it's fun to see a similar idea here as well as it seeming more...achievable.

Using healing items as a evolution method is really a good idea. Some of my friends joke about the existence of a Pokémon evolving using a Burn Heal because in Gen 2 there's a bug about the Moon Ball, you can only catch Pokémon that evolve with a Burn Heal and not with a Moon Stone.

I have two ideas: 1. It's similar to your Low Happiness and 1 HP ideas: If one of your pokemon faint, have the next pokemon defeat the opponent (no capture) to avenge the fallen, and it will evolve. 2. I always wanted a pokemon that could evolve mid-battle (kinda like mega-evolution), so I wouldn't mind one pokemon with this gimmick. The interesting perk would be it would learn 3 new moves when it evolves. So let's say you had a level 50 Eevee. You evolve it mid-battle, and now it will try to learn Discharge, Agility, and Thunder.

the rival species method was definitely my favorite, the fact that rival species exist in my opinion already gives a bit of extra depth to the world of pokémon and makes it all the more immersive and interesting so this method would give this concept gameplay relevance making it even more satisfying and rewarding, it could even lead to super cool interactions if one trainer has a zangoose and the other has a seviper they could battle and take the battle as a bet, the winner obviously taking the satisfaction of seeing their pokemon evolve.

An idea I always liked was the idea of pokemon evolving based on a variable specific to that pokemon. By that I mean like, a pokemon will evolve differently depending on which ability, or nature, or even size it is. For gen 9, this could work really well with Tera types, especially weird ones. Like Toxapex with electric tera types evolving into a new pokemon based on lightning rods and faraday cages (Or maybe even an MRI machine for Miriam). These evolutions wouldn’t work in later gens after they drop Terastalization, but maybe in later gens they could just evolve via elemental item or something. (Or we could just not get rid of Terastalization since it’s my favourite gimmick 🥺👉👈??)

Great video! I had some "unique" evolution method ideas as well. 1. What if a Pokémon evolves after being left in the daycare? I had this idea for a Bug type mantis Pokémon with gender variants: the female is large and powerful, while the male is much smaller and weaker. After putting the two in the daycare together, not only will you get an egg, but the male will also evolve into a Bug/Ghost type, inspired by how female mantises kill the males after they reproduce. 2. What if a Pokémon evolved in a certain altitude? Like, maybe a Pokémon evolves into a Flying type or an Ice type when levelled up in a really high mountain, or maybe it could evolve into a Ground or Rock type when levelled up in a really deep cave?

I actually have an idea for a Pokemon that evolves by minimum friendship. The concept for it is based on virtual pets, cherubs and those plastic baby dolls young girls often play with. Here's the kicker, it's a split evolution. If you evolve it with high friendship, it becomes more cherub and angel like. However if you evolve with low friendship, let's just say the results won't be pretty.

I think the release evolution would be better if it needed to have high friendship as well mainly because it’d be annoying to catch a ton of them and attempt to release them all, just for each of them to evolve

I had an idea for an evolution: you release a pokemon at the place you caught it in, and then you wait a few minutes. From that point on, the first wild encounter in that place is going to be your pokemon, evolved. You'll have to catch it back, but its catch rate will be increased heavily.

The "day of the week" idea was my inspiration for an idea I had about evolving Cosmoem or Own Tempo Rockruff without requiring two game version or carefully watching the clock. Basically, have a location tied to the solstices/equinoxes and allow these Pokemon to evolve in this location if they reach a high enough level when the calendar is set to a corresponding date, regardless of the time of day: Solgaleo on the summer solstice, Lunala on the winter solstice, and Dusk Form Lycanroc on either equinox.

I have a gimmicky "region" concept I've been thinking of, called The Labyrinth, which would be entirely interiors. Caves, hallways, sewers, etc. Due to that, there would be no day and night for time based evos. So, how would time based evos work? Well, with the sunstone and moonstone, of course! However, a Pokemon that only evolves during the day, or only during the night, would get both evos. Some would gain 2 forms with unique inspirations connected to their original inspirations, while others would just be simple type changes. Gumshoos is based off of.. well.. a detective. Specifically, a police detective. Sunstone Gumshoos would take more inspiration from a standard friendly police officer, while Moonstone Gumshoos would become a Mobster, with the signature move 'Cement Shoos', which would half the target's speed, and make it so water moves do double the damage, for maybe 3 turns. Moonstone Gumshoos would be dark type, of course. Sunstone Espeon would be Psychic/Electric, and would have a small arc of electricity connecting the two tail tips, allowing it to function as a taser or stun gun. Moonstone Umbreon would be Dark/Poison, and would gain fangs. Aside from that, it's just some mild changes, like adding yellow markings to Espeon and green ones to Umbreon.

Awesome ideas ! It's really inventive ! Somehow it reminds me of Sliggoo who needs rain to evolve. I had to wait days to get rain, this was the last pokemon I needed for the full pokedex in violet. Oddly enough, now I'm doing a shiny only playthrough in scarlet, I want that pokemon in my team. I didn't liked it that much but now it's growing to be one of my favorite pokemons. So more weather evolutions could be fun. There could even be combinations, like using an ice stone while under the snow, to make a zero kelvin pokemon. Anyway, great ideas. I don't have too much hope for that, but I wish that the people working on pokemon games could watch this video and get inspired by it. There's so many inventive ways to make new evolutions. (also an idea for the worst evolution of all evolutions, the pokemon evolves only if it's shiny)

Personally what i want to see is previous Evolution items getting reused for newer Pokemon. Say you have a Tully Monster Pokemon (look it up lol) thats obviously a Fossil Pokemon, only evolving once. Then maybe you could give it a Dragon Scale to evolve it into a 21 foot tall Kraken monster and replace the Rock type with Dragon, like how Kingdra gained it! Do what they did in PLA where both Sneasels use the same evolution item at different times of day for a different evolution. I look at all the evolution items they add and so many of them could be used for so many different Pokemon than the ones theyre restrained to and ultimately it makes these items useless once you get the Pokemon you wanted if theyre not used for other Pokemon. Evolution Stones have done wonderfully with this due to so many Pokemon requiring them to evolve, despite many recent Pokemon not needing them

i could do without more annoying trade evo items (aka Dragon Scale), but items that function like Razor Claw/fang like with Sneasler are certainly welcome. The Dawn stone also hasn't seen use since Gen 4 either, so I'd be cool with it coming back :D

Its a lot easier if its just something it holds instead of trading it and personally it makes more sense to me since it likely would never find the Scale when it was alive, and if it did it would inspire Kraken stories. No trading required, just hold and evolve

I've had an idea for a while. The newest games have variable sizes so I think a cool branched evolution could be based on size. A very big one could evolve into something bulky and slow but a small one could evolve into a frail speedy Pokemon

the idea of max Ev evolving Eevee sounds great! that could work so that, if you max out Evs with no 1 EV having over 150 points -Normal typed Eevee-lution and then we have another 6 eeveelutions linked to having 150EVs dedicated to 1 stat in particular, based on the Average by type HP - Dragon - Wyrveon Atk - Fighting - Meleeon Sp. I had an idea for a pokemon based on a star, which i put a lot of thought into the evolution method. It evolves when it uses a special explosion move in a battle. It has 2 possible evolutions after exploding which depend on how many KOs you got with it before it evolved. However before it learns that move it can evolve into a super weaker pokemon, and you need to not evolve it for a bit.

It would pretty interesting to have a Psychic type or something that evolves by "nicknaming" it the evolution's name. Like a prediction/future-sight Pokemon. I wish that was the case with Farigiraf because of the palindrome gimmick, and it's the first future-sight Pokemon we ever see in the anime I think? You could nickname it as soon as you catch it to evolve immediately, but of course it would be better to level-up then use the name-rater later.

This vid is definitely full of ideas great ideas, & I wanna run by my thoughts about what stood out for me: 2:23 date of the week is a very interesting way, but I cannot imagine how on an evolutionarily standpoint it makes them, time doesn’t exist in measuring time is only a theory, if a Pokémon evolves on a Monday, what part of Monday makes it evolve? Where to get extra bonus is on Monday as well? I imagine this would work with Pokémon like Porygon as well as other Tech based mons 3:53 I don’t like the idea of 4th stage mons, simply because of Eviolite, sure some Pokémon struggle but if Kingambit can use use it then why ever use Bisharp instead? The rivalry between 2 & 3 stage mons are a solid one, 4th stage evolutions only shift that battle to kick out 2nd stage mons 5:56 I love this simply because of abilities like tinted lense, ones that boost damage of NVE hits, that’s a very unique method 11:36 this also is very interesting, just like how I said Porygon like Pokémon would make the most sense with this, I could definitely see tech mons appreciate this unique devise attachment, or like you say later, Pokémon that evolve through wealth you use a luxury ball instead, I have another idea that I’ll save for the end with pokeballs 👀 13:14 when you said unconventional, you really meant it, this definitely wasn’t what I was expecting, time & eggs are also smart steps, false releases could be annoying or scary, but the false evolution is very cool!! 16:52 fortune gets a little spot with Hall of Fame cause when I looked at it, I remember the diamond and pearl ribbons that you could get for spending literally the max amount of money you can carry, so having a specific ribbon can be tedious, but also very sentimental and I love that And now, at the end of the video, I was surprised that you didn’t mention one of the bugs from Gen 1, where if a Pokémon evolves from a stone and you switch in a different Pokémon into the same battle, after the battle the first Pokémon evolves, that happened because certain Pokémon had the same ID code with evolutionary items, and therefore switching them in was basically using an item on that Pokémon, and with all the rock and mineral Pokmon we have, having one Pokémon tag out into a second one is an evolutionarily method is also a very interesting mechanic, It’s literally just switching out but using specific Pokémon, oh and what I said about pokeballs earlier? Well they have to be made of something! Who’s to say that the composition of one dosent evolve a Pokémon when you capture them with it! You could make a "release" method other way. You would actually have to release the Pokémon, and then it would become a roaming one that you have to find again, but now evolved. I guess encounter chance similar to roaming legendaries would be adequate.

Some of these sound like way too much effort to evolve one pokemon. However, now I'm imagining a game where your starters are the pre-evolutions for the box legendaries. And they only reach their final stages at the end of the game. The last three evo methods would be perfect for that.

I like the skip evolution method it could encourage players to be patient like yeah this guy evolves at an early level but if you wait just a few more extra levels without evolving it you’ll get something even better. Perhaps use it for something like an early game bug or normal type?
