PDK is only option with this engine to keep in sweet spot and having Driven new 4L ( and not just read about it ) it sounds no better

I disagree, as a owner of a manual cayman with the same gear ratios, the thrill and sound of being able to slap it into low gears at motorway speeds is more what the cayman/boxster is about rather than the fastest 0-100 kmh launch.
