Mark Pope had the 18th best team via Kenpom with a bunch a 3 star Mormons. His offense was elite at a mid major level program. Beat Kansas and Baylor first year in big 12. Seems to be doing something right.

Goodman, all last season, on this very podcast called Cal a “master motivator and recruiter, but not an X’s and O’s guy.” He also attributes our revamped offense solely to John Welch (who is not following Cal to Arky). Both of Goodman’s assessments were accurate. Not sure why all of a sudden he thinks the man has learned how to in-game coach?

The offense wasn't really revamped they just stumbled onto 3 of the 6 best shooters Cal's ever had on the same roster in Reeves, Dillingham, and Sheppard. They were running the same exact floppy sets. Only thing that changed was shooting more in transition.

@@mgers75 fair enough. And the funniest thing is that Cal actually got really lucky last season. He would have never even recruited Reed if it weren't for his dad and his KY ties. If Reed were from another state, Cal would have never even looked at him. Reeves was basically out the door and his teammates convinced him to come back instead of transferring (Cal even fumbled and NIL deal for Reeves). And it took a last second DUI to land Mitchell. Dillingham overperformed and Reed was exceptional. His top 3 burger boys were busts -- underdeveloped and took massive draft stock hits.

Goodnan is such a goober. He hated Cal at UK now he's leaning towards him so i guess he just hates Kentucky. Cal has less at ARK than he did at Kentucky last year and he lost in the 1st rd to Oakland. Ill take my chances with Pope. Cal is lazy and washed up. Glad to have Pope who's younger and fired up and one of us. Kentucky up to 10 with 1 and 2 of Kentuckys best players. Feels so refreshing having Pope. Cal had 1 tourney win in the last 4 years with incredible talent and even sone experience with studs like Reeves and Mitchell.

If UK gets Lanier or Robinson, OR if they somehow, some way, get both, i think this team has final 4 potential. Butler, Lanier, Brea, Robinson, and Williams. Defensive anchors at the point and center positions, and absolute bucket getters at the 2, 3, and 4.... and back ups of Kriisa at 1/2, Oweh at the 2/3, Carr at the 3/4, and Garrison at the 4/5.. not to mention the fact that Perry is a legit scoring threat at the 1 or 2, and Noah is the same at your 2, 3, or possibly even 4, and then the biggest wildcard has to be Chandler, who knows where his game is at, but there's no one better than Mark Pope to understand how to get the most out of Chandler. Without at least one of the two of Lanier and Robinson, i still think UK is a top 25 team, 15-20 range, but with one or both, I truly believe this team has final 4 potential.

Goodman couldn't get Cal to come on the show for nothing, and I remember last season when Cal had what was an even more stacked roster than he does now, and Goodman would say they were a fringe top 25 team because he didn't know how DJ Wagner and Rob Dillingham would play together and they were so young. Now Kentucky has what is considered an older team full of veteran players and Goodman still has something to say. But one thing I have learned is whatever Goodman usually says, it's usually wrong and I'm excited at the fact he isn't fully bought in. I hope he keeps sleeping on this Roster because I have a feeling they will surprise alot of people by how good they can be.

But as a realistic fan I'm not gonna trip if they don't win immediately, because I know for a fact that mark pope and this staff understands what their task at hand is, and if pope just has glimpse of success next season and these recruits see it and their parents get to know the man he will start to land elite level prospects right under the nose of Ol Cal. And if he can just get a top 5-10 class within the next 3-4 years he will win more than cal would with the #1 class..

This was filmed couple days ago. Now that trent Noah kid that had verbally committed to South carolina, just sigged with kentucky. Perry is a stright Dogg, bucket getter, Noah same type player, but is 6'6". He can play off ball, learn from Brea, perry gonna b point, probably won't start at beginning of year, but them 2 gonna b solid for 2 or 3 years, maybe even 4!!!!I'd take kentucky v Arkansas heads up riggt now. Cal will do same thing at Arkansas, get some of best players out in high school. And same thing, will happen he won't win a title at Arkansas. HE barley won with Anthony Davis lead team, and that team was loaded, had 8 or 9, players that could of started for anybody. Stevie wonder could won the title with that team.

@@stevenkidd6761 they have a huge adjustment to make this year, I don’t necessarily think they’ll start slow, I just think after last year they won’t start ranked as high as they so it might feel slow for fans. Feel like Paint does a great job developing a program and players, but it translates different than these teams who buy seasoned players in the portal.
