Just ordered mine… For years I've been trying to figure out a speedometer for N Scale T-Trak modules I could measure both tracks in both directions with. This may not be inexpensive, but it's exactly what I need. I will put a building flat on the near side of the module and have the display visible through a window. Looking forward to playing with it! 😎👍 🚄

Aside from 1:76, what other British scales are used? We could easily make a UK version
@RailRideАй бұрын
@ModelTrainTechnology British O scale is1:43.5 and European O scale is 1:45 as per the Wikipedia entry for O scale.
@henrybest4057Ай бұрын
@@ModelTrainTechnology In the UK there's also TT(1) scale 1:120 that is also a common European scale. The problem with any UK or European version will be the additional shipping and customs charges. 1) TT, from the original name Table Top. Not to be confused with the microscopicly tiny T scale (runs on 3mm gauge track, scale about 1:500?). T is for Three like N is for Nine.

I am sooo wanting to go there and drop all the complexities of hot rails/wiring, track maintenance, etc. Cheers and Thanks for sharing.

This is great. Any plans on making some kind of "kit" that can go over it (a building, or whatever) to allow semi-permanent placement of this within a layout?
@mclifer22 күн бұрын
How about camouflaging it behind trees or foliage?
@Wrecker3DАй бұрын
I would put that usb port on one or both sides for easier access¹ (and maybe even linking 2 _or more_ sticks together over greater distances) and see if I could make it send the data to a pc/mac over usb or bluetooth so you can monitor and log it so it adds extra value on larger setups ¹= instead of on/off switch use a 3 mode switch: off/battery/direct power with direct power mode taking the battery out of the loop so there's no risk of over charging I don't know if it would be a lot of hassle but it should be possible without the stick 'growing' too much or getting unnecessary complex (could sell it as 'pro' version)
@ModelTrainTechnologyАй бұрын
We purposely removed the end facing USB because a cable there on the layout would be unsightly. The bottom facing is so a cable can be fed UP through the layout. The battery lasts an entire day and the charger is smart - no need to worry about over charging. It's all automatic. If you plug the cable in, the battery is digitally disconnected. We have other products in the pipeline that will allow more options and connectivity.
@openeyes-411Ай бұрын
@@ModelTrainTechnology Nice! Would it be possible then to install it in a building adjacent to the track with display visible thru a window - and the unit & pwr cable hidden?
@ModelTrainTechnologyАй бұрын
Any way you like as long as it is within 5.5" of the train.
@PurplePrickProductionАй бұрын
Will you be making these for installation in a more permanent setting with external power supply and a remote readout? Having a selectable/scaleable output would also be very useful perhaps along the lines of 0-10 VDC or 4-20mA.

Is there an interface to allow the readings to be transferred to a computer and into automation software such as iTrain to provide automatic speed profiles?
@ModelTrainTechnologyАй бұрын
We have plans for this type of thing.

I'm curious about the built in battery. Eventually all batteries need replaced. Is that something the end user will be able to replace, or is it buried inside the case and has to be sent back when the battery won't hold a charge anymore.

The battery can be replaced by the customer. The battery has a plug inside to make this simple. 8 screws to remove the cover. Would take about 5 min tops with no special skills or equipment.
