New program guarantees admission to Cal State system for eligible students

The new Transfer Success Pathway launches in August, and will begin with students graduating high school later this year.

What many students didn’t know was that grossmont college/Cuyamaca college fed transfer students directly to SDSU. It was a program that the schools already had in place. So if you graduated from GCCD you had a high chance of being accepted into SDSU but a lower chance of getting into another university like San Marcos. Like wise if you went to a different community college you’d have a better chance of getting into San Marcos that SDSU. GCCD also has one the highest successful transfer rates in the state of California. I learned this from a professor who had been at grossmont college for decades. This information kept me going until graduating from SDSU with a bachelors. I think letting people know this information before hand would’ve kept more people from dropping out.

People who Transferred to MSJC had a higher chance of transferring to Cal-State San Marcos than other schools. The community colleges already have transfer agreements in place with cal-states and the UCs, especially if you take classes at CC to meet the UC/Cal-State requirements.

They should be transferring from cal state to community and technical colleges…..at least they teach people skills that are useful to society.
