New project collective built from Thrustmaster - T-Flight Hotas. Here is my first go at a helicopter collective control. Its all Very basic but has worked out realy well for a quick bodge up. My next project will be to make one from scratch and include some form of friction control. Hope you like the video and please give it a thumbs up if you like it. the BEST review of HOTAS4 on youtube ! what we wanted to see is HOW sensitive and accurate is the joystick, flying helos is the only way to show it.

Great video, thank you. I’m like you recently semi retired, I’ve used flight sim from MS4 with a keyboard😁 Now I’ve got the time I’m trying to fly the Bell 429, a free helicopter for X Plane 11.

Thanks for the video. My comment is that It's really irritating that you could make a decent working collective like yours whilst big companies Thrustmaster, Logitech and others refuse to entertain the idea. They are happy to keep pumping out all manner of accessories for fixed wing aircraft and cars whilst us helicopter simmers just have to make do with non-realistic airplane collective controls for our software. Of course they wouldn't sell so many collectives as yokes and wheels but there still is a good market out there from people like me. If you do want a retail helisim collective you need to spend hundreds of pounds and I'm thinking there must be a niche market for an enthusiast to go into business and start making them more cheaply along the lines you did and sell them on Ebay or similar.

I can only agree. Looks around £300 is the cheapest I have seen so far from Russia 3D printed.

I don't it on aauto setting called the governor that maintains RPM

Just dropped did the same with my hotas 4. After I dropped the joystick part and broke it.. throttle works ok did the indent removal mod. But found there is still a deadzone in the center... Did you get around this or lived with it...

Many thanks. strangely enough I was a martial artist but also a photographer and used to photograpgh the Jiujitsu handbooks for a 7th Dan Dick Morrison in London, Shorditch. I also did work for a martial arts magazine I think his name was Paul Crompton.

I had to play with the damper but used to stay-put. i ham now using the one from the other video when i converted a RS shifter. but the converted Thrustmaster served me well.

Hi, Have been oñto helos recently and found your mod great. Did it a bit differenly on a Logitech 3DPro but the ideas you gave work very well. A couple of questions: What helicopter was that. I missed that. And leading on from there...how is the throttle mapped to the collective. I am flying a Dreamfoil Bell 407, but the throttle seems not linked to the collective twist throttle. Its messy because I have to use F1 to reduce power for landing. Is there a neat way you have the collective to be mapped to reduce power for landing? You seemed to be flying and landing quite effortlessly! Thank you, and just subscribed.

Hi I have a small volume type knob mapped to throttle but you can use a slider if you have one on the joystick. Once you start and get the govner switched on the throttle looks after its self. I tend to have auto start switched on as the start up procedure gets a bit tedious for me. I just love low level flight not so much the technical side. Thanks for the comment.
