Its wild that half of the PS5 covers fit the Pro, and half do not, but only due to location of the insertion points. They designed the 2 consoles side by side and clearly had some idea of making the panels be the same size and everything. That isn’t just an accident. But it is extremely disappointing that there will be 6 versions of covers (3 PS5s, both diskless and disk drive). It should be streamlined

Separate stands are normal historically, the system itself is optional and can buy a regular PS5. The customer cost, environmental and multi skew requirements are wild. I suppose you could argue the plates are always optional, but that doesn't validate skews and environmental impact.

Zero dawn remaster is mostly great. But I wish the mouth speaking animations werent messed up. Upgrading the face models somehow caused characters to have unnatural mouth shaped when they speak. They almost never purse the lips for R sounds for one example. Feels like im watching a very good looking muppets

From what I can see, they are using a much bigger fan for the PS5 Pro because the bigger chip will generate more heat, and the clips probably wouldn't fit because the fan is in the way for the top portion. The bottom portion is the exact same. So instead of buying 500$+ scalpers disc drive add-on, you can simply buy a PS5 Slim with a disc drive and swap them out as the bottom panel will fit. Then resell your PS5 Slim as an all digital PS5 slim. Just saying, don't buy these scalpers prices.

Maybe it was to encourage people to spend more money. I'm sure they have a ton of data that people are willing to spend a couple bucks on some trophies. $10 upgrade? I'm sure people will do that. I mean, I could've just bought Miles Morales, but I got the ultimate edition so I can have a reason to replay the first game. Sometimes a trophy list is a compelling reason to play a game when the backlog is extremely long. As far as I remember, I believe (and someone can fact check me on this) they stated at the beginning of this generation that PS5 trophy lists would always be separate from PS4 lists (assuming the game has both versions).

It's because the ps5 trophies are different. The have a bigger limit of trophies, tracking etc. They are not compatible with the trophy system version of ps3, ps4 and vita. We'll probably see shared lists of ps5 and ps6 games

Nioh is one game series that let's you transfer your saves between both the PS4 and PS5 versions and most trophies will automatically pop when doing so. I autopopped my Nioh 1 platinum.

The PS5 Pro faceplates situation is completely illogical, I know they're doing it like this just so they can charge extra for Pro covers but the way they've done it is so arbitrarily petty it's funny. They're literally the same size and shape, yet the clip pattern is different, meaning the Pro plates will need their own separate machinery to produce when surely it's more efficient to just make one style that fits all, they did it with the disc drive so why not do the common sense thing and extend that to faceplates?

Very few actually seen any demonstrations of what it looks like in the hand and relied entirely on the memes and closed glass photos of it. Common sense would dictate a controller that more naturally follows the curvature of the hand without needing to contort would be more comfortable.

Sony is focused on a "show, don't tell" approach, except they are not showing anything. We know nothing of what most of their studios are working on. We know of 2 games, Fairgames and Ghost 2. What about the other 5+ studios? They are silent for years. I would say that their approach currently is "don't show, don't tell", and increase prices on consoles and controllers.

Idk, I'm opposite on auto pop trophies. I think it's dumb. I purposely try not to do it. Why would I want something on my account I didn't earn? Not only that, like you said. You decide to play a lesser version of the game (like a lot of others) to miss out on features and enjoyment, in exchange for something you didn't earn. It shouldn't be an option at all.

When the PS4 Pro came out, I was thrilled and had to have it. This time, different, maybe my fault. But as Sony is currently releasing the exclusive titles on PC, I play them once on the normal PS5 and later as "upgraded" versions on PC. So there's no need for a PS5 Pro. And the known technical facts about the PS5 Pro are so far behind my gaming PC, that's not worth it. And stuff like Ray-tracing an a weak machine like the PS5 (Pro) with its limited APU design? Nice try or joke, but even PCs struggle with good visuals and Ray-tracing, so let's skip that 🙂

It's funny you say that about no save data transfers from PS5 to PS4. Some games actually DO have that. Stranger of Paradise, Nioh 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 7, and Guilty Gear Strive have that. Aside from Guilty Gear Strive, all of these games auto-pop trophies as well. However, save data transfers in Strive can be exploited for the Extinct Species trophy which requires you to spend 100,000 world dollars. That being said, I get the frustration and wish more games did that too.

I don't think the cover thing is on purpose because it is a pain to create another sku just for some extra pieces of plastic. I suspect they may do what they do with the disk cover and just add the extra top covers to the existing box. I really want to see what is different with the chassis of the pro someone needs to open it.

I know some people are going to be annoyed with Sony about the console covers, but I really don't think this was done to extract more money. You have to assume that getting tooling for and producing two different kinds of console covers (and their associated packaging) is going to be relatively expensive - and the amount of people buying the covers is likely small. It'd be more economical for them if there was just one product to sell, since it's fairly niche and the PS5 Pro itself is also niche (to a degree). I imagine it was likely done because of the console's new internal layout - the pegs couldn't sit in the usual spot

I just bought [Redacted] and it gave me a nice bump up in PS points. Not sure what exactly the points rewarded for buying a new digital game is. Which I haven’t lost any points or locked out from anything on my end. But just before all this PS Stars stuff been happening, I wasn’t awarded any points from a couple of the monthly quests and had to contact customer service.

I think Mystic is wrong about the support team only knowing what we know, many support teams for many companies, including Sony, have backend articles and documents for current known issues in most cases

The Cucumber Cowboy Dev said his game sold significantly better on PSVR2 as well. There’s going be a bunch of jacked up looking 2-tone Ps5 Pros, but whatever. It makes no sense and scalpers are going to go nuts on the limited PS5 Pro covers. This just sucks.

I wonder if there's a limit to redeeming the cash option. I haven't read the TOS closely enough. Edit: 11.3 of TOS might be the reason. They might have an invisible limit.

PSVR2 needs Half Life Alyx, still. It’s ridiculous they make so many shady deals for competition but can’t make a deal to bring one of the best VR experiences to their headset on a PS5.

Super impressed with Insomniacs brining extra graphic options in a more PC centric state, I've been begging for this for a very long time. The option for modes are great and a great out the box experience console can offer. but some studios don't do the due diligence to optimize it properly and just like PC i'd like to tweak to my liking.
