That '5' on the reverse of the 20 cent is to die for! 5 is my favourite number and I love really well stylized examples of it on coins, stamps, and banknotes. I'm definitely the type of oddball collector to buy a coin for just that detail.

Theres no right way to collect so that’s totally fine i collect coins but mostly collect the coins that i like when i see them especially if they impress me i dont have a specific set i want to build except for 2 the us type set and the peace dollar series other than that i collect everything if i see a world coin or a ancient or a us coin with toning that i like i buy
@TheWinstonDouble8 ай бұрын
@@josefigueroa3930 Right on! Peace dollar is a great coin. One of the few US coins with a concave field that it really works on. Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of set building. I as well have only two, a very detailed Canadian mint type set down to every little intentional design tweak, and a Canadian silver dollar series, just the clean issues. No DDOs, no overly polished die varieties. Other than that it's just whatever looks really interesting. Kinda funny, we both have the same thing going on type set & dollar set for America and Canada.

@@TheWinstonDouble that really cool and it seems tuff to complate what I really like about Canadian dollars are the beautiful nice toning they get they are really nice coins also if you like to collect 5s go for $5 silver certificates there really cool and no to expensive depending 😅

@@josefigueroa3930 Yeah I got lots of nice toners. If I'm buying a silver coin I always look for one with nice tones. My picture here is a 1951 high relief quarter with black turquoise and magenta

Just FYI, for the number 5 on the 20 cent pattern, it's called a "ball terminal" when the end is large and circular.

The 1953-D cent in MS67RD is listed at $900 at the NGC website. PCGS, surprisingly, has theirs lower at $700, so either way $290 must be a good price. I would be concerned about whether the coin is still 100% red or not. It does appear to be so from the pictures. However, a MS67RB drops from $900 in the price guide to $68. If you could get a CAC sticker on that coin, it could sell for more than $290. But without a CAC sticker, I'd imagine many collectors would be gun-shy about such a coin.

Some really great pieces! The low pop gold, the pattern 20 cent piece is incredible, and even those really high grade moderns were cool, and those Indian Head cents were phenomenal - I actually said "Ooooooooooooooooooh!!!" in long, low tones when I saw the reverse of the brown one with the blue toning - really nice...

Hey Ben, Great coins - I think what you are referring to is something I would call - "butter-face" the reverse is stunning - butterface!! Love those Indian proofs - The 1956 Roosevelt toning is very intriguing - too bad not a FT - Gee, I missed the 1878-S Morgan with the toning - lovely coin IMO - The 1967 Washington Quarter MS68 - Where is that going to go? Great Collections? or Stacks? The pattern piece always reminds me of the young numismatist you interviewed at the WitterCoin exhibition / class. May I borrow your credit card - I promise not to go over 15,000!!! Also, I know you have been hanging around with Seth - he loves using the term - a lot of meat and meaty - lol Thanks very nice video and your cornucopia of interests in coins! Best Wishes
