NEW PUSHFIT BB FOR GIANT TCR

In this video I swap the push fit bottom bracket on my 2016 Giant TCR Advanced Pro. This will be the same procedure for any of these push fit bottom brackets as long as the previous one hasn't been glued in for some reason.

Thanks Gordon. Interestingly I have found they are harder to knock out using a big deadblow hammer. The problem comes when they have been bonded in with some type of adhesive. 🤪

You can use the Lixada tool to remove the old one as well, instead of the big hammer method - feels more civilised

Yes, I do that with Hollowtech 1 style cups. Or the Hope ones. However with these I have seen it where it just pulls the bearing out of the plastic. Plus I did t want to mark the paint around the bottom bracket. 👍

@@adriansmith38 I fitted my new pressfit cups dry. They came out dry. Went in the same. Think it depends what you are pushing then into. And what state it is n plus how good the fit is.

Have you done a video fitting a hope press fit bottom bracket think they last a lot longer

No, I haven’t. I have two Hope Hollowtech 1 type screw cup BBs but not the pressfit. To be fair though, it’s the first time I have had to change this unit. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it was original. I had done 10800 km on it since I got the bike. My partners is the same age and I bet that was the same.

Great video quick question, dont you have to grease the bb shell inside the bike where the cups go ?

Thanks. If you are pushing the cups into a metal surface I would say yes. So the older pre 2016 TCR for instance. These came out of the carbon dry, so I put them back dry.

what are Shimano replacing all the faulty ultegra chainsets with ?

I think they are sending out like for like units. So if you had a 170mm crank 50/34 Ultegra, that’s what you get. However I haven’t got my replacements yet. We shall see.
