As a person who has low vision,, I find the look and describe feature extremely valuable as to a lot of other people in the blind and low vision community. I have said for many years I have enough vision to get myself in trouble and then not find my way back out lol. It also helps me be able to read signs that I can. “see“ but not see in detail enough to read.

Picked them up for $200 with prescription (wife’s insurance is bomb). I traditionally wear Oakley, the same damn pair every year but decided to pick these up for one main reason….my kids. Capturing those priceless moments without ruining it by trying to pop out my phone. Great for catching them in the natural moment as they don’t become “aware” they are being recoded (if you have kids that are a bit camera shy). Yes, do I now rock glasses that look like they belong on a “progressive hipster”, but capturing all those moments of them laughing and wind in their hair on the ride at Disneyland last week, so worth it.

How much battery time when livestream continuously?

@ haven’t tested during livestream, but great idea. With continual / heavy use of video I’d say 40-50. Goes by quick. They do recharge fairly quickly in the case but that I would say is one of the Cons at this point. Also with the use in cold weather, like with quite a few battery operated tech, that can shorten the battery levels quite a bit as well.

I've had mine for several weeks. I figured I'd return them if I didn't like them. Tomorrow I'm picking up my $420 prescription lenses for them. They're awesome. The AI and audio features are an added bonus to the always-ready photo and video capabilities. It's not something you'd take an important photo or video with but it's always faster than taking out your phone. I've been using them to do little POV videos for my girlfriend who is on another continent at the moment about my day to day adventures.

I use mine more indoors but hasn’t been too sunny by me this time of season so haven’t had the chance to use in those conditions. However my only possible issue is them tinting in medium light. Not sure I’m a fan of that look yet. Probably just me being overly critical 😊. But worth it to note.

A recent update of the Meta View app. provides the ability to take a photo or start-and-stop video recording wiith voice commands. The only downside I see with my recently purchased Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses is the Meta View app restricts the user to Meta's walled garden of apps/utilities. You can't ask your phone's assistant (Siri, Google, Gemini, Bixby) to assist you and you can't use non-meta apps to do navigation or speech translation. It seems other walled gardens (Apple, and Android O.S.) providers will soon release their own walled garden smart glasses, but I anticipate competition will soon offer smart glasses that let you access the smart assistants and the apps you prefer to use.

"Unfu*k Yourself" ...my absolute FAVORITE book! 😂 I have the glasses and absolutely love them! I honestly can NOT believe the call quality on these! When I'm speaking to someone outside (walking), they say I sound like I'm in an enclosed room with NO background noise! This is a HIGHLY underrated feature of these!!

I'm thinking about getting smart glasses butt I don't know if any of them would do what I need them to do so I might be waiting a bit longer. I think if the Meta project Orion comes out I'll get it if it isn't too stupid expensive. I hope someday soon glasses like this are available with a zoom so you can turn them into reading glasses etc. For my job it would be excellent if I could have an adjustable screen open for long periods. Meta quest 3s would be perfect if it could be in glasses format lol.

Thanks for watching! Some pretty great concepts seem to be in the works. I think it may be a good idea to hold off for some, so more capabilities are rolled out. But they also have to practical for every-day use I think. The early generations like the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses are good for those early adopters to learn and experience them. They aren't mainstream yet, and it may take some time because those that don't utilize eye-glassware for their day-to-day, the conveniences and capabilities have to be good enough to push people to wear tech on their faces. Yeah Battery could be a little better, especially if you're shooting video a lot. It is great how you can re-charge in the case if needed. Behind the scenes stuff is great for content. Have you kept the aspect ratio as its original when you edit, or have you messed with that at all? Curious....

@ I kept it the same. I asked meta LLama 3.3 will an update happen and it said they will come out with landscape recording, panoramic photos, and 360 photos. Yeah I hold my breath on that. My wife is an interior designer I got them for her to film behind the scenes of her property walk through and business meetings. As soon as I seen her footage from us in New York. I was hooked and sold. I wonder if they will or can find a way to not have the footage so saturated. We shall see the next generation should extremely nice.

They are heavy at 48g, 1.7 ounces with the thinnest prescription lenses available, for the Medium size version, 41g without, and the first weeks my ears and nose could feel it. My nose and its blood vessels still aren't that happy about how they sit. Not being waterproof makes it more of a hassle to clean them. I agree about the sort of restrictive Meta walled garden usage perspective others have highlighted, but I knew that going in. Part of that is that it only connects with my phone. I have an LTE smartwatch and I would love it if I could leave my huge phone at home, and stream music from the watch to the glasses, or missing that if I could store music or podcasts or audio books on the glasses and leave my phone at home. Meta are missing an opportunity by not incorporating these in sports usage, they could be incredibly useful to track form or, together with a smartwatch, or a ring, movement and form. Could offer great coaching potential. I guess Samsung and Google might take that angle with their versions.

I think the concept is cool. It's still a little too early for me, maybe when they release Orion I might think about it. One huge concern I have with Meta specifically though is Mark Zuckerberg. He's an anti-privacy activist with numerous lawsuits due to privacy problems with his software. He's always looking for ways to subvert your privacy. He's even quoted as saying something to the effect of "If people are stupid enough to give me their personal information then they deserve what I do with it." This is the reason that I don't use Facebook, Meta, or anything else he has touched.

I bought a pair when they first came out but returned them because they were just too darn big for my face....They just dominated my face...I really did like the feature set BUT they didn't look good on me....and I'm not about to wear something that looks like clown glasses on my face. It wasn't really the thickness of the frames it more of the height of the lenses that caused them to look comically big on my face. I wish they would come out with something that is for smaller faces...e.g., Lens with of 50mm and Lens height of 33mm with a 16mm nose bridge. Finding a frame or set of frames that will work for the majority of faces is the Smart Glasses dilemma.

@@TheCreativePOV They only had 2 frame types...but I've looked at the new frames and I'm not a huge fan of these newer frames because of the shape and also the lens height are about the same as the Wayfarer so they still looked clown-ishly large for my face. The key measurement for me is the lens height. I need a height of something like 33mm or less.....so more rectangular than square.

Thanks for the question, and it got me thinking. They are a bit bulky, so I called RayBan and gave them the model number. These are Large. I called the store where I bought them and the Salesperson mentioned she mistakenly gave me the Large. Thanks again for the comment, if you hadn't I probably wouldn't have thought otherwise.
