Didy, I'm so happy you're back. In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful performances of this song I have ever seen. In September 2023, I witnessed her singing this song in Portsmouth, New Hampshire at her concert. It was the greatest performance of any song that I have ever witnessed in person.

This is about the 30th time I’ve ever heard this song from AJ and each time I cry a few tears. My brother introduced me to AJ about 5 years ago after picking me up at the airport. He has since past away from cancer so every time I hear AJ it reminds me of my poor brother 😢. Thanks for the wonderful reaction my friend ❤

She expanded on the Bobby Hatfield /R/Brothers rendition. His version is the gold standard for this song. Elvis did it while ponding the piano and it is a very powerful performance, but not that pleasing to the ear. Andy Williams sang it in the 50’s when it was still new and it is very smooth. Angelina took Bobby’s version and arraigned it for the KORK orchestra and just blew EVERY other performance out of the water! I’m a pretty Manley man, but this performance makes my eyes water every time I watch it. I’ve seen this 100’s of times!!!!

Didy, I am so happy to have you back reacting, and hopefully healthy. The following info is helpful background and I know some of it is review for you. But it can't hurt to see the message to all. In my opinion, this is one of Angelina's most beautiful performances. Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here in December 2023 at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony.This performance of her is fascinating and wonderfully intimate, she reinterpreted this legendary song and adapted it perfectly to the emotion of the homage to the painful story of Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards her musical future. Sadly, Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison, this past January. In June 2024, Narges was sentenced to an additional 12 months in prison. Narges did get a letter published, condemning the war in Gaza. We hold on to hope, Narges will be released, sooner rather than later, and be reunited with her twin children who are Angelina's age. I think Angelina did a fabulous version of "Unchained Melody" evoking the proper emotions.

Great reaction, Didy. I agree, this is how you perform this song. At least in a setting like this, performing at the Nobel Peace Price concert. Narges is still imprisoned. She was initially sentenced to 25 years or something in that order, in addition to receiving 130 lashes. Then, without her even being present in the court, she was sentenced to an additional 5 or 8 years. I may very well be off with the numbers here, so anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Narges has a twin daughter and son, I believe they are Angelina's age, and they now live in France with their uncle. They haven't seen their mother in many years, but they came to Sweden to receive the price on their mother's behalf, and then later to Oslo for the concert. They sat just a few meters away from Angelina during the performance, and it must have been very emotional for both them and Angelina. You can see Angelina turning toward them and touching her heart at the end of the performance. And one important thing to note is that Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is also Iranian, and you can imagine that Angelina and Mery have had conversations about Narges and the whole topic of women suppression in Iran. And so you may also imagine the magnitude of importance for Angelina and her whole family to be able to perform at the concert. Performing at the Nobel Peace price was also a thing Angelina said when she was 8 years old was one of her biggest dreams. At age 17 she made her 2nd Nobel peace price performance. Dream fulfilled 🙂 Hard to perform in any more dignified and respectful way than Angelina did here, I daresay 🙂 And can you imagine a more appropriate song to sing for the occasion, taking the lyrics into account ?
