I recently purchased a CZ-83 in .380acp caliber at a Gun Show for $275. I then went on E-Bay and purchased a set of Rosewood Grips from a Company in Thailand for $44.95. I replaced the plastic grips with the wood grips and they went ,on easily, fit perfectly and look beautiful. They are smooth at the top and checkered on the bottom two thirds, with a CZ emblem towards the bottom.

I saw those grips on ebay and was skeptical because they ship from Thailand. That is good to know. I'll be ordering some this weekend. Thanks

I swapped the grips out on my circle 11 P-64 with some absolutely sick CNCd French Walnut grips and it made the pistol look 10X better. My VZ 82 is in great shape, but I think I'll look for some excellent wood grips for it, too. Or, petrified mastadon tusk grips.

I bought the same gun the other day. Same holster and grips, only a couple small scratches on the gun. Very happy I found it.

Nice video. I also own a surplus CZ-82 and was thinking about refurbing the gun with wood grips. Your was wonderfully restored and is now a great looking gun. FYI, the 9x18 Mak round is slightly larger that the 9x19, and will not insert into the chamber.

You are correct, some have tried with catastrophic results

Yeah, the commies did that so their own ammunition couldn't be used against them by being compatible with their enemy's guns.

the grips are Wattle wood, its a European hardwood. I have them on my '52 but they raised the prices from 50 bux to 75 and so I cant afford them now for my 82' so I made my own walnut as seen in pic

Mine is nearly identical except the wood grips have finger groves and a hi viz front sight. Smooth as silk. Scary accurate, ingenious design, wow you quality, frog lubed to perfection. Plus it is chambered in just a sweet sounding caliber nomenclature, 9mm Makarov. Love em! Working on a twin for a two gun shoulder rig...woohoo

Sorry, I didn't even watch the video; I saw the picture of the grips on the gun and had to stop by to give my compliments. Nice looking grips!!! It makes that old inexpensive gun look like a very expensive classic gun.

Well, the same gun (CZ83), but chambered in .380 is nowhere near an inexpensive gun. CZs have always been very nice pistols.

he spoke of the 9x18 being between the 380 and 9mm nato rounds, actually if you do a gel test and compare the mak to a 9mm nato defense round they are pretty close. the mak is way closer to the 9mm nato than to a .380, almost the same actually but with a lighter gun and less recoil (im sure you can find a gel test on youtube)

Gun and holster are both ambidextrous. DA trigger pull is very noticeably better than Makarov. What's not to like?
@sjr90769 жыл бұрын
The 9×18 Mak is closer to a 380 acp than a 9mm.. the closest thing to being the same as the 9mm is the 38 spl. Yes I'm aware that the 9mm has more energy at the muzzle than the 38 spl but the 38 has heavier bullets and tends to match the results ballistically to the 9mm. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Mak and would prefer it over a 380 acp any day, but it is not a 9mm or 38 spl for that matter. The 38 and 9mil tend to always get at least 12 inches or more of penetration and expand while the 380 and 9×18 seem to struggle to get past the 10 inch mark for penetration, and the Mak is in lack of good quality ammunition. Great vid and beautiful gun. Love those grips!
@abrego1508 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the closest thing to 9mm is the .38 super
@sjr90768 жыл бұрын
Sono Guap ballistically 9mm and 38 SPECIAL are basically the same.
@douglasfulmer54838 жыл бұрын
+RugerShooter Hmmmmm.... I tend to disagree. Hornandy Critical Defense is available for 9x18, and no one in their right mind would say that is a bad ammo. I think you are over generalizing a little bit too far. While neither 380 or 9x18 are in the power level of 9mm, neither is .38 special, especially non plus pressure ammo.
@sjr90768 жыл бұрын
Douglas Fulmer I should have been more specific..I was refering to 38 + p being very similar to 9×19.
@sjr90768 жыл бұрын
Douglas Fulmer but a standard 38 spl is still more powerful than a 380 acp in any pressure.

Suuuweet looking 82 - I own a CZ 83 - the .380 cal version of the same gun. Love it - as you said, super reliable, accurate and great little carry gun. Other thing I like about it is the weight - the Makarov round is very snappy (much more than the .380) and the weight of the gun really soaks up the recoil nicely. Good vid

Beautiful refinish. What is your theory on refinishing this gun versus collectible value of the gun? In other words does refinishing impact the collector value negatively? Or does the refinish increase the value? Yours came out looking like blued steel. Very impressive. If I were having one Sarah coated like yours what color would I ask for? Thank you for your help!
@charlesrosenquiest54667 жыл бұрын
Michael McGough I had the same thoughts as to the gun’s value, decided that due to the number of these poorly finished milsurps available why not refinish. If you’re a stickler for originality, just buy two.

Any holster will wear the finish. The finish on these tended to get worn where the trigger guard meets the grip frame, from rubbing against the baseplate of the spare mag.
