I'm afraid TAGHeuer didn't design the Skipper for the watch enthusiasts but for the more general watch buyer. And these customers want a decent sized watch and a date. They care less about how close the re-edition is to the original design. It's sad but true... 😔

It appears so. You would think on a limited edition piece of 125 watches they could stand to cater to the collectors more so than mass market. If I were a gambling man, I would bet TAG just released this to hype up a new mass-market watch they're planning to release with the same case and movement, probably with a different non Limited Edition dial. Just my guess.

I stays with the Heuer Autavia skipper.....Vintage Heuer always a collection to keep

Your observations are spot on CG. The asymmetry is a poor choice. The original symmetrical design was superior aesthetically and I feel would have marketed much better. I don't personally feel the lack of a date would have hurt sales, but this may be contrary to known marketing and may explain the decision. This would be nice to know in order to understand their choice. To large a case size really ruins daily functionality and overall comfort, however to small a size may make the hands and indices difficult for the far sighted like myself.

Thanks! That's what bothers me most, it was a limited edition of 125 pieces, they sold out in minutes. They didn't have to do anything for marketing reasons and for some reason still released something mediocre. I guess that is why I am most disappointed.

Absolutely correct, they botched the AUTAVIA too large big clunker , chunky , lousy proportions , way off, also went cheap on the skipper,single register, should have used acrylic crystal as well, sad , Jack prob. got high blood pressure from the BEAV. dragging some of his best models through the mud.
