A tip for working faster with Relight tool: Right-click the node #2 (the one containing the depth map) and under "node cache" select "on". Wait until the node number turns blue, and then start adjusting lighting in node #3. It will be much more responsive.

@@JasonYadlovski Yes - this really is important for a smooth playback. Even with my MacBook 14" Pro M2 - it drags and stutters until you turn on the cache and have it pre-rendered to cache. Now things run smoothly.

Tip for anyone that may have their color correction on an adjustment layer - The relight just won't work, because it doesn't have an actual depth map to work with. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't doing anything on my M2 Mac Mini with 32GB of RAM. I realized the problem and then added this to the actual clip and it works like a charm. Thanks, Jason!

Hey do you why davinci resolve is not aligning or syncing audio when i tried to do it. It gives me this message - "No match was found when attempting to sync these files" But after i export my audio file separately and tried to do it, it sync perfectly Please let me know what's the fix of this issue?

Hey! Sometimes it just can't find a good sync point, even when it seems like there are plenty of good sync points. I run into that every once in a while too. I usually clap at the beginning of every recording and that creates a good sync point.

FYI - Evidently, there are some effects/plugins that can mess with the Relight effect. It was looking so good, but when I exported, it was all jacked up whenever the Magic Animate effects kicked in. So sad. I ended up not using the Relight because the Magic Animate was more critical for my visual text components.

You can always render out projects in the highest quality and then add another effect on top of it.

Jason, I am trying to learn the new relight fx, but I came across a problem in your tutorial. My node 3 doesn't have a 2nd input like yours does--and in fact, when you first created the 2nd node it only had the standard input and outputs, but in the next frame, when you add a 3rd node (in between the first two, I noticed that the outside node had multiple inputs--but you did not mention how that was created or modified. Second, I don't have an option to choose a "corrector" mode, just serial and the other normal nodes that are in DVR. Perhaps there is a setting in the project or master settings that I need to change, can you help or explain this to me? Thanks.

Hi! So the ‘corrector’ node is just a serial node, you can add that. To get the 2nd input, you need to add the relight Fx to both the 2nd and the 3rd nodes. Then you should be able to get it to work. If not, drop a comment and I’ll try to help more.

It’s 100% worth it, even if you don’t need the extra features, you’re going to get a performance improvement because of the use of your GPU on your computer. The free version doesn’t really use the GPU. There’s a lot of benefits to the studio version, really, you can’t go wrong for the one time fee and lifetime upgrades.

You should be able to do that, but it will apply the effect to everything below the adjustment clip.

Sure, you just need to mask and track the face or use some of there other tools like magic mask to have only the face selected.
