Price is not bad for what you're getting. The speed is good enough because who wants a car that will put you in trouble. As it's an upgrade from the kadjar I'll give it a thumb 👍🏾 up

I have a Kadjar automatic diesel which has been a good car, 71.2mpg on motorway at 60mph. I'll be sad to see it go, we've got on really well in 4 years🙂 Been a diesel freak for 38 years. BUT, I had test drive in top model Austral and was so impressed, ordered it. It may sound like a 1.2ltr Zanussi washing machine at tick over, but the sound doesn't intrude inside the car, and the regen is brilliant in town. I'm used to watching the rev counter for best mpg, now I'll be watching regen. Infotainment, 360 camera and the car overall appears to be top stuff. We'll see, take delivery next weekend.

Can I ask how the suspension behaved and what sort of a drive it was on our potholed roads in UK. Secondly other reviewers have commented on the clunky gearbox behavior and over reving engine performance noise, comparing it to older generation auto gear change mechanisms. I'd appreciate your thoughts as I don't re-call you referring to this aspect on your drive and was interested in your experience. Thanks for the review.

If you pedal it its rather loud and kinda clunky. Tho only high end cars are smooth on fast acceleration in my opinion. When i test drove it, it was very smooth and nice to drive (I drive mostly relaxed with kids in the car anyways). The car i drove had around 10k on the clock.

I know diesels are 'bad for the environment' which is the mantra being spit out. But when diesels change to common rail design they produced less emissions even back in 2002. I had a 2.0l A4 Audi and on a full tank I could get 720 miles yes 720 mile on a tank which was 60 litres ... so being a petrol it is a good range on just a normal sized 55 litre tank ! The Parkers tech info even quote as high as 727 miles.

680 miles seems a lot but with a 55 litre or 12.09 gallons fuel tank the MPG equates to only 56.2 mpg I would say thats poor for a hybrid, compaired to say a Toyota Corolla with a 9.4 gallon tank has a range of 733 miles in real world driving, Honda HR-V 8.8 gallon fuel tank range 546 miles, your simple putting more petrol in to achieve the miles.

I just come to bought one in Luxembourg (exactly the same you drive, but in blue) and already noted the usual Renault flaws: - No more the back doors curtains (very useful when the sun is strong and I roll with the window open). - 3 "sticks" behind the left side of the wheel ! ( Renault couldn't build the speed lever on the slider?). - Peugeot 2008 copy! The new designer is the guy who designed the Peugeot 2008 ! So why I bought the new Renault Austral? Because Renault Luxembourg proposed me at same monthly but with 4years warranty and maintenance and by the electric trunk open (I'll replace my lovely Scenic IV Initial Paris with the soberb engine 163 CV and 45.000 kms). I already miss it❤

I can get 680 miles on a tank w/o hybrid. (PETROL STATIONS HATE THIS TRICK!) It is called diesel ICE.

All reviews are like: Oh, its not the best 0-60 times or Oh, its not going set your shit on fire with acceleration.. its a hybrid. You don't buy a hybrid and expect it to be Audi RS fast. Good video though. I watch a lot of them, this one isn't too bad fella.

Basically any modern diesel with displacement ranging from 1.5 to 2 litres have nearly identical fuel consumption. Driving carefully you can easily get >680 miles on a 60-65 litres of diesel.

Diesel Renault Kadjar (previous gen C-class SUV) gets MORE than 680 miles on a single fuel tank. But this drivetrain is more expensive and more complicated (less reliable) to get slightly worse MPG. Just imagine what a hybrid diesel can achieve!

You don't know it's less reliable and neither does anyone else. It's too new. The Kadjar was uaf and that's why Renault dumped it. People didn't like it.

@@modelrailwaynoob You said it was dumped and sales nose dived. How can you dump, then sell a car that's not for sale? Can't comment on the other models you mention, I didn't try them. Renault dealer have always looked after my needs, so that helped keep me in the Renault stable.

@@andrewmcgonagle6290 I love Renaults and have owned six. I have owned four Citroëns too. I am currently on my first Peugeot and love it. The Austral is my first choice for next car so far but I wish it was a little bigger. The Koleos was ideal. As for the Kadjar, instead of being defensive, look it up and you will see why Renault dumped it.

As a Renault car owner and have been for 20yrs I took the Austral for a drive and did not like it one bit, If you ask me there are lots of thinks wrong with the car, So I am replacing my Kadgar wiht the new MG HS top off the range

i bought the mild Hybrid Austral 1,6, very poor quality and the monitor and the scrolling boton for the radio does not work, it gets errors very often, I am super disappointed. The brakes constantly squeak, the interior is very cheaply made, and in two months, the leather on the steering wheel wore out

New breaks often squeak. If you use the dash and wheel for extra activities I m not surprised.
