New revitalization efforts could change the way downtown Bakersfield looks

You may notice some new changes to the downtown area in the next coming years with recent efforts being made by the city to revitalize downtown. According to Councilmember Andrae Gonzales, the plan is to revitalize the downtown area’s 18th and 19th streets, starting with improvements between L and N streets.

@John Jones: I respectfully disagree & I refuse to mince words or sugarcoat the truth. I work downtown, I have a child who goes to downtown school, I work, walk & drive that area so I see it day in & day out. Go walk by the bus station on Chester Avenue across from Jack in the box & try to convince me that our homeless problem is minimal. Look at all the buildings that burned down in just the last 8 months due to arson & tell me we don’t have a real homeless problem. Ignoring the problem only makes it worse, I’m not asking you to fix it, I’m just asking you to be honest by acknowledging it.

It would be nice to see these Shores open again I remember when Ace pawn shop in the Emporium was right there on 19th Street where the new sandwich shop is now

This to this looks the same. Valley Fever which is bad for people's health. It's all over in Bakersfield ca in the dirt and dust. Those buildings need a color upgrade and murals artwork. Those buildings look boring. Bakersfield ca needs alot of improvement.
