Hey man, about shifting into Neutral accidentally: Newer Kawis have a Neutral Finder that makes it so that below a certain speed or when you are completely stopped you will always shift from first into Neutral. So try shifting into second gear at a higher RPM than you are used to and the problem should go away. I had the same problem initially on my Z900 and when I started riding out first gear longer than I was used to the problem went away!
@MotoTSJ6 ай бұрын
Thank you for advice! It is a little frustrating but I have been a lot better the last few days of not hitting neutral. I will try this next time I ride. I appreciate it, and thanks for watching!

I had this (and I eventually still have) sort of problem, because I tend to not go wham on the rpm`s when I'm riding around my neighbourhood, what I did was not only shifting on lower rpms but also not really kicking the gears. Even if you are at low rpm if you really kick the second up, with purpose it will go into second. Yes, sometimes it still happens to shift into neutral, but rarely. So, the tips: 1- Really kick the gears when shifting, don't go easy on them. 2- Try to use more of your rpm range before shifting into a higher gear.

Same boat, my guy. I just got a Ninja 500 40th SE and it's kinda crazy how the speed doesn't really feel all that fast. The only time it really gets sketch is when you get hit with a crosswind. The bike's low weight really shows then and makes me want something heavier lol. Stay safe, have fun.

Sick bike man! I have a '23 Ninja. As far as shifting accidentally into neutral, you can also adjust your shift lever and move it up or down. If you're shifting into neutral often, you can try moving it a bit further down so there's less travel time from your foot to lever when upshifting. Just one of those ergonomic things that you should customize to yourself on any bike new to you

@MotoTSJ the ninja is so light weight, I'm really considering lowering it a couple inches. I'm not a race track guy so I don't think it would hurt to much
@aidenlothian96426 ай бұрын
You're treating 1st to 2nd like 3rd gear and up. 1st to 2nd has the longest feeling throw. You're not doing enough movement on your shifter. It's mechanical. Clutch in full movement on the gear lever. Just take that extra bit of time to pass thru neutral. If you want to make it easier make sure your clutch freeplay is between 2-3mm and adjust the shifter to match your foot angle so you can get maximum movement out of shifter easier. Edit: Just seen a few other comments recommending this advice

@MotoTSJ6 ай бұрын
Great question! I am 5’10 and 150lbs. I wear a size 10. My riding boots did not have any troubles with shifting, I did have to adjust the lever to fit my foot in there though, took few mins to do that. The stock exhaust is definitely huge, I did take mine off for a Leo Vince GP Corsa. You can check my most popular video and see the difference! I can flat foot the ninja very easily. I would suggest sitting on this one and a few other bikes to see how they feel.

I noticed you downshift after you have reached a lower mph. YOu can downshift in higher speeds if you wish to slow down, engine breaking will slow it down. Lets say you were at 80+ on 6th gear and you downshift to 4th gear, the bike will slow down without having to use the break. at 7:20 as you were exiting the highway, heres a perfect spot to downshift just when you're about to curve.
@MotoTSJ6 ай бұрын
So if I’m cruising at 80, I can downshift to 4th? The bike will just slow its self down? The manual says to downshift at certain mph from going down to the next gear though.
@KhanesJ6 ай бұрын
@@MotoTSJ Exactly man. The manual gives pretty bad advice too, shifting at this speed and that? Using sound is better, it lets you know when to shift. You can just hear it when the bike needs to shift. Its ok to do these as a beginner but once you get more comfortable, it becomes a second nature. Also, there’s this guy on youtube that can explain what I was saying in my original comment better kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3SsZmt_i7mDZ6csi=cFArqmKAnVyKOrwk at around 5:30, he talks about how downshifting slows down the bike without having to use much break power at all. He also talks about rev matching and when to rev match. I pointed it out earlier that you should rev match at higher speeds because if you’re rev matching later then what are you really rev matching for? Hope this helps and you take it as a constructive criticism, it might be a lot to take in for a beginner. I think its important to keep learning ways to become a better and safer rider.
@KhanesJ6 ай бұрын
I would like to also advice that if you end up using the method of engine breaking, that you must tap on the front break to activate your breaklight and let others know you're slowing down. When you do there should be a clicky feeling to it, might be harder to notice with gloves on.
@devonnobles10836 ай бұрын

I have the same bike and to fix the neutral issue just literally pull up harder and further on the lever.
