Thanks! And that's why I put the parking space drills into the app...no need for cones or tape measure. And you're not a nerd by setting up cones...you're the opposite for not giving a shit about what other people think for improving your skills.

Cheap advice for a very low risk method to learn slow speed motorcycle handling: ride figure 8s on your bicycle. Motorcycles and bicycles steer the same way. If you're going to go "blah blah countersteering," GET ON A BICYCLE, go straight down the road, and give it a counter steer push. Holy shit, it leans and turns like a motorcycle.

Great video. I am one of those people who practices without the cones as I simply don't own them. When I go out to practice on a parking lot (and there's maybe one decent enough to practice around my area) I do pretty much what you've demonstrated. figure of 8, trying to do full lock circles, do emergency braking to improve my braking distance. Turtle racing is also very important, especially for those who filter. After getting a new motorcycle, I was scared of filtering, where I have done a fair bit on my previous one. After spending maybe an hour or two on a parking lot practicing slow speed stuff, I got so much confidence. I'll be getting some cones soon maybe

@nicholasmanson86157 ай бұрын
I liked that you used an awful parking lot. I ride throughout winter in the top north east and that stuff is my day to day alongside crater sized pot holes. Drives me crazy when people act like a few pebbles or a dash of sand ruins the entire road surface and makes doing anything difficult just totally impossible. It just takes practice. Those lot conditions were what I leanred to ride in. It definitely takes some silly things off the menu and certainly isnt anyones optimal ride but it adds a unique and interactive nuance to messing around on the bike with some free time. If you can do it easily there then you can be well sure you can feel totally braindead comfortable doing it on a clean surface.

Really appreciate these videos, it helps a lot when you see how it's done, rather than being scared, making mistakes and getting corrected, which in some cases makes things even more difficult and stressfull. I'm currenty taking my riding courses, and I believe that my instructor doubts a bit that I've never been on a bike before 😅
@skyoom17 ай бұрын
🙂. I try my best to stay towards the more positive "what you should do" rather than "not do". I'm the same way where I'll focus so hard on the "dont do's" I'll make mistakes elsewhere which then messes everything up haha I also won't ever edit out mistakes of my own and if I can I'll try to point them out since one frustration I've always had with online tutorials/advice is when you can tell someone had to run it back 10x to get the clip they wanted and then talk like they have a 100% hit rate.

Excellent video for a new rider. I try to practice in a parking lot as well. Being on a large bike (KLR 650 adventure) it helps to get used to maneuvering. How about a video on starting from a stop on a hill at a light or stop sign? I have stalled my bike a couple of times and realized that I need work on hill starts. Thank you for posting.

One thing that I would mention, try to gives a break to yourself and the bike when practicing. Clutch and brake can get hot and you make more mistake when tired

You're never going to make the brakes hot in parking lot practice. Motorcycle brakes are amazing at keeping cool unless you're racing on track. Clutch, yeah. Don't slip the clutch for hours.

@krisswolf2011 he's a Marine.. And if I remember right, he was also a Drill Instructor. Some of us tend to be rough around the edges and have a no BS disposition. In other words, we can come off as an asshole to anyone on the outside or, a bit more... malleable around the edges. He's a great teacher though. My MSF instructor completely switched gears from soft spoken and gentle to rough once he found out I was a vet as well. 😂😂 Didn't bother me a bit. In fact, it made it much easier to understand. Everyone is different and I get how that mentality can come off bad to a civilian but, we are what we are.
