True, I'm in my mid 30's and I just started riding. Always wanted a bike (a cruiser) and never got one because I couldn't reason away the risk. Now that I am mature, a seasoned driver and understand that tomorrow is promised to no one, I took that leap. I got a Nightster because the boy in me told me that is what you wanted, but my gut told me to get a beautiful blue XSR900. Unfortunately while the bike rode nice, I hate Harley and it was already throwing codes and locking up the display. I went and traded it in for a XSR900- now upside down double what it is worth, an expensive mistake, but like you said, every time I see it, it puts a smile on my face, and every time I ride all I think about is machine and the road ahead, not worrying if my bike will make it to the destination. And yeah, showboating and gatekeeping has become so toxic thanks to social media- your goal is to have fun and go home safely, not push your limits and kill yourself or others.

This does seem pretty dang slow, at least for where I live. Here in southern california, it's not uncommon for the freeways to be around 85 mph, and you'll get an occasional honk for being under 70 even in the second-to-left lane. Not being able to get from 70 to 85 in a timely manner is a little alarming. Maybe something like a ninja 500 with 451cc would fare better than this, but this looks like a situation where something in the 40+ ftlbs of torque would be better for me. I have about 2 years and 10,000 miles on a 125 and ive been in the market for a "real" bike, and this sort of showed me that going up to a 400 might not be enough for what I might need.

ABS saved my butt one time. I would probably ended up under a vehicle. That was on my 2013 V-Strom with ABS only. Now I have a 2019 Africa Twin with Traction control and ABS. Call me names if you want, but I think these systems are totally worth it. They end up paying for themselves.

It's fascinatingly scary to see how little throttle you gave it gave a good idea how so many people get hurt getting liter bikes for their first bike, takes a very controlled person and throttle hand to stay safe with it, definitely showed me I need plenty more practice with my z400 before getting anything this crazy

You only get to make the mistake of a little too much throttle once. 1K SS bikes scare the shit out of me and I ride a first gen Vmax. IMO, 750 SS is where the magic is. Only Lord knows how long Suzuki will keep making the gsxr750 tho. With all this emissions bullshit, soon we will only have 1000cc inline-4 sport bikes.

Watched this video and ended up grabbing a liter bike anyways for my first. Only difference is that its a BMW K100. Easy to ride, even power curve, and plenty of engine and torque to help not stalling. I am very proud and happy to ride it, but for my next ill probably size down and move to a dual sport. Forgot to add, take the MSF! It is worth it.

I laid my f800gs down in a turn that i know like my own body and i was going to buy bread for the next day had no protective gear on beside gloves and helmet because i had no intent of riding hard or anything like that. And on the sidewalk was a mother with a child running around so i shifted down to second going 15-20 kph and before i recognize that anything was up i was sliding on the ground. Lost my front wheel and to this day i dont know why…(no video of it) but later i learned that at that exact point under the road are lots of water and power lines and stuff wich maybe cooled the surface but. Im still angry that i did not see it coming and that i did not wear gear. Since my thicc bmw landed in my leg i had road rash. And the scares are pretty big to this day. my ankle was stripped to the bone knee as well.

I have 30+ years of experience riding dirt bikes, and 20 years riding street bikes. I’ve owned everything from 100cc dirt bikes to 1000cc sport bikes, and dragged 1200cc bikes (amateur level). What do I have now for bikes? A 200cc dual sport; legitimately the most *fun* I’ve ever had on two wheels. I’m in the market for a DL-650 too. For me, it’s much more fun to ride a small bike fast, than a big bike slow. The DL-650 will do everything I’ll ever need a street bike to do. Now I want something smooth, comfortable, reliable, and easy to ride. I didn’t always feel that way though. 🤣

As someone whos learning to ride and hoping to obtain the driver's licence soon, I always had a rough time handling the bike and huge pain in my wrists and thumbs. Turns out I don't use my hands to keep position on the bike but rather legs, back and abs. Thank you for explaining that.

I disagree w/ most of these comments. A 250 will turn you into a squid just as quick as a liter bike. In most cases, it'll squid you faster. Why? Because "iTs jUsT a 250, iTs nOt eVeN a liTeR biKe" Understand? You're a beginner and you're afraid of liter bikes? Good. Use that fear and turn it into respect that you never lose and you'll never get yourself hurt.

I have an S1000R (naked) and agree 100%, there's a huge difference between a liter super sport and a liter naked... I also have 30 years experience in the saddle. A big naked can be ridden very aggressively, or just lazily lugged around town and still be fun. I started on a 500 )a million years ago), then a 700, then a 750, then a 1050 triple which I still own, now this bike and I also have a 125 Grom in garage. Small bikes are still a blast, but my 1000cc naked w some aftermarket wind protection is just a great do anything bike. Super sports are much too task specific to be every day riders IMHO.

Hey man, I just wanted to say to not feel like you’re not letting anyone down by not riding a bike. Fear is a very real thing and if you got legit bone chilling full body shut down fear over what looking back on it now was water on the road. Think of what can cause it now. I just commented on your ego video today and seriously look back on that, there’s no point to risk your life for something that you don’t really enjoy anymore to impress people or to show people that you’re capable of something. Your true community will love your content no matter what, I’m glad to hear you’re okay man, it seriously couldn’t have ended any better
@joshuareffert867723 күн бұрын
I’m a 17 year old kid and this video has made me think over a lot of things, personally I don’t think I have a big ego I’ve always tried to make sure I don’t try and think or prove that I’m better than anyone else. And I thought a lot of why I want to eventually ride a motorcycle, and honestly I just want to feel that freeing feeling. I will never intentionally do anything stupid on a bike there is just too much to loose and nothing to gain. To me roads even ones that you know extremely well are just too unpredictable. They’re might be a new pothole or road kill or any new debris hell animals hopping out in the road I will never understand people that too out their like on public road ways. There is too many variables to account for especially with how people drive now. For me personally all I want I want is a machine I respect, sounds good, and makes me smile when I look at it. I will never be a moto gp rider so it makes no sense to take corners or drive at speeds like I am one. I think this is a great video to show people especially people of my age that there is nothing to gain by risking your life at all nothing is more important than your safety and how having an ego or feeling like you NEED to impress people can get you seriously hurt or worse

That little Ninja 250 has given my wife and I more freedom, enjoyment and just an overall improvement in our quality of life and I don't regret buying it at all! Thank you, for stressing the importance of being sensible and responsible!
