Great for food delivery, pharmacy maybe even auto parts. If the Batt is easily removed one can be charging while one is on the bike. The adjustable components work for that as the next shift rider would be bigger or smaller. Easy or no shifting good for delivery too!

thx -- looks nice & useful but hmm the front rack seems unneccessarily weak to me, with all the possible weight that's possible on the rear axle, plus i wonder if that charging port is properly weather resistant i.e. e.g. ice or rain creeping in and the adjustable steering column ist great, but how solid are the pins, that take up a lot of the stress - ?

Looks like a AWESOME bike! Thanks for video. I do see an issue coming down the road, china is starting to put out low cost EV cars. Recent one is going for $9,000 US 4 door 150 mile compact car. It's not going to be shipped over seas for another year or so, but still when you see some of the Muller Box bikes costing more than that I worry the surge in EV bikes is going to go down. Which would be terrible, as they are a pathway to a better quality of life.

Great looking bike. Love the features and the design. However, couldn't see spending $7000+ on an e-bike. I am on the market for an alternative transportation to a car. A Vespa 250 or 300 for about $8000 or a micro e-car for around $10,000 would be better options. To work for me, the price of the cargo bike, with similar features, would have to be around $4000 tops.

i feel like this stuff is all great, and the tech is great, but they are going against the GSD. the only reason most people go with the GSD is the clubhouse fort. even if they don't get it, they have the option for it. I'm sure this is probably technically better than the GSD with the latest stuff, but the GSD is already good enough. all R&M need to do is make something like the clubhouse fort for people to see it as a car replacement.

Very interesting bike and good to see R&M coming out with an 20 inch cargo bike. I am big fan of R&M - the family has both a Load 75 and a Multicharger - but one thing continues to baffle me. Why do they always supply their bikes with that useless 1$ warning bell? It hardly makes a sound on a good day and if it's wet it makes no sound at all. A weird choice to put in front of the eyes of a customer that has spent several thousand dollars on a top of the line bike.
@chrislicameli
@chrislicameli Жыл бұрын
Maybe because they don’t want to create noise pollution with their bikes in cities. Cycling and e-biking significantly diminish noise pollution in urban settings and they created a bell or horn with high quality loud sound it’ll pollute urban centers with noise that cities are trying to reduce.

The gazelle is a great bike and its lighter but the Multitinker is a long tail cargo, it has weight capacity of 450lbs, its low to the ground and has 20 inch tires with a totally different center of gravity and can haul heavy loads and adult passengers. The battery on the Multtitinker is also larger at 650w.

@jasonrouse6912
@jasonrouse6912 Жыл бұрын
If you can stretch to the Tern. I would go with the Tern. As I use one myself. It's a workhorse. There's three models to go with but GSD S00 is probably best for the buck. It's roughly £1K more but a lot cheaper then the £9K which I have. Luckily for me mine is a work one so I don't have to worry about insurance which is £600 a year and I didn't buy it. The R14 is good and I can't fault is on any level but the price and for that price you'll need insurance. But if i was going to buy one for myself as a car replacement I would go with the S00 over the S10 because of long term. Less can go wrong with the S00. It'll do 10.000km before you'll probably need to change the belt and probably do some work on the gear system. The R14 just the same but you'll change the oil every 4000km and belt at 10.000km or if its worn out. Yeah the R14 has better gear ratio and better for battery life. But stick two batteries on the S10 or the S00 and you'll get over 100 miles just don't use Sport or Turbo Mode unless you're going uphill or carrying heavy stuff. Eco and Tour on flats and it'll do 100 miles.

The GSD has a bigger payload. Plus S00 is roughly the same price as the R and M. The GSD might be slightly longer? With a lot of Cargo bikes they flex when carrying stuff. The GSD has a very stiff frame. I'm not sure about the R and M as I've never use one. But they both look like well thought out cargo bikes. Good luck with your choice.

I went from a Supercharger to a Super Delite, they both carry up to 20 kg on the back and 5 kg on the front. Super Delite move was for the suspension and my back. The bonus I never saw coming is that I can ride mountain trails which is simply just fun in my late 50's. If you're specifically chasing the ability to carry heavier than this then it's not them. Hard choice between this and the Tern, but I suspect the R&M has the power edge. As I age I was thinking Homage but I'll watch what they do with this model as I think it'll be this or a future model Tern.

This bike is not meant for the likes of you or I. It is meant for the children of oil executives, whose other vehicle in the garage might be a Mercedes AMG SL 63, or maybe a cheap BMW XM, so they can show their wealthy neighbors how "green" they are as they stop by the Carmel Farmers Market to pick up some locally sourced organic Pink Oyster mushrooms and a bottle of Napa Valley Screaming Eagle Cabernet on their way to their vintage reproduction sailboat trimmed with ethically-sourced teak. If you don't know the name of the person who sewed your organic hemp cargo pants, this is not your bike. If my goal in life were to get as many Americans as possible into e-bikes as viable transportation alternatives, I'd have a really tough time finding space in my showroom for these.

Key in on what he said about their sourcing and manufacturing. This is what a bike costs when you make it with German labor instead of Chinese slave labor 🤷🏽 Not so much about what "they think this is worth", but just realistically what it costs. Also, Riese & Muller sell plenty of bikes, so plenty of people find it worth that.

@@47f0 I think your point has some merit, saltier than needed and also lacks the idea that every new product is expensive because of economies of scale. The number of honda supercubs made, just no comparison.

@@libraryofpapel - The Honda Cub is an interesting example, because it is precisely counter to the notion of scale economics exhibited in the Riese & Müller bike. I had, and rode the wheels off of one of the original Honda Cubs - it was built by a small island nation with very few natural resources (other than WWII scrap metal) and a manufacturing infrastructure that only a decade and a half prior had been bombed back to the level of a high-school shop class. It was designed, manufactured, marketed and distributed precisely to leverage economies of scale. That is the opposite of the concept behind the R&M e-bike. The R&M e-bike is not expensive due to anything that's all that new - or even especially unique. It's not trying to hit the Rad RadWagon or even the Specialized Globe Haul ST market - it's not shooting for economies of scale - it's after folks who can afford Gwyneth Paltrow candles - and actually buy them.
