I live 20 min from the New Riff distillery and it's one of my favorites. The founder of New Riff owned The Party Source but had to sell it to open the distillery. You can't produce and own distribution in KY. All their rickhouses are bonded so every bottle of bourbon can qualify as BiB if they want to proof them down. Last week they celebrated 10 yrs in business.

New Riff does distill all of their own whiskey. Their rye mashbill is slightly different from MGP’s. It’s 95% rye and 5% malted rye, where MGP is 95% rye and 5% malted barley.

New Riff 100% distills ALL their own product. The single barrel rye is my favorite. The picks New Riff sells at the distillery are STELLAR!! Speaking of stellar, that sherry finished rye is 🔥 Had a pour of that in their bar after a tour. Also, had a taste of the 8 year rye and definitely preferred their single barrel pick. Definitely my favorite distillery. High quality, high value, high transparency, and incredibly innovative while being true to longstanding traditions. They’re the best!!

I grew up right next to new rift, granted new riff wasn’t there when I was growing up, but I worked at the party source a couple times as a summer job and have some friends that work at new riff. Truly good products good people. I’m glad that you did a tasting.

My first ever barrel pick was with Creola at New Riff - I’ll never forget it for many reasons, one of them being how nice and accomodating Creola was! Started a whiskey club with some friends and we went and did a New Riff back in April - it’s delicious!

The only New Riff product within my budget is the standard bourbon, but I absolutely love it, it's my go to when I can afford to treat myself. (I tend toward JTS Brown, Ancient Age, Four Roses, etc. usually, wish I could afford New Riff more often!)

After watching this video, I was motivated to get off my arse and finally try New Riff, and was able to get their Kentucky Straight Bourbon BiB ($40 in PA). Wow! What in the world was I waiting for?? Brown sugar and carmel on nose and palatte, you can feel some oak and some rye spice, but everything is beautifully balanced on the sip. One of the better tasting BiB bourbons that I have had the pleasure to try. Thanks for the nudge guys, I really enjoy these distillery reviews, and pretty much everything you guys put out for us!

I just picked up the New Riff rye single barrel. Very delicious!! After a few days I’ve figured out why I like it so much. While it’s a bit hotter at 114 proof it’s tastes and smells exactly like buffalo trace

Great spotlight on New Riff. They're my favorite distillery for all of what you guys mentioned. Awesome product offering, great price point and in my opinion, by far the BEST process for their allocated offerings. No need to take off from work to wait in line for an allocated offering, but fairly releasing it through the NRWC and letting you pick it up. Great video fellas!

The Single Barrel Rye is absolutely amazing - maybe my favorite rye of all time. Matter of fact, I can't drink the rye before the regular Single Barrel because I won't enjoy the Single Barrel. What New Riff does for the money should put a lot of distillers on notice (not to mention companies that finish MGP-sourced juice). As always, love the show. I suggest a future show where you both wear beanies with propellers on top. Why not, right? 😂

I love New Riff!! SB Bourbon has been my go to. Thankfully my local store is starting to carry them so I don't have to go far to pick up another bottle. I tried it on the recommendation of Trent from one of your past episodes. So thank you for turning me on to it!! I also have the Balboa Rye I picked up during my travels and I tasted the Single Malt when I was in Kentucky at Liquor Bar in Lexington. Can't wait to visit the distillery in the near future. I wished they were around when I lived in Cincinnati. Keep those vids coming!!

Love New Riff as well! I was lucky to be a part of a Barrel Pick with a local group at the end of March 2024, and it was a New Riff Single Barrel Rye! So delicious and such an amazing experience at the distillery!

First got into New Riff in 2020, been a fan ever since, watching their lineup grow steadily. Appreciate the creativity there with that and keeping the prices within reason. I've been hoping for a while they would add an attempt at the double oaked bourbon market to the line, as a priced competitor to Woodford Double Oaked or Old Forester 1910. Maybe one day!

I watched your riff tasting this morning. For the life of me I couldn’t remember where I saw the riff bourbon, and rye. Then this evening I remembered I saw them at my local supermarket. So I went to check them out. Well there were two 4 year old BOB bourbon. Two 4 year rye BOB. But the rye were on CLEARANCE 30 dollars a piece! The bourbon 49 dollar. I picked up the rye and soon to be consumed at my leisure.

I love New Riff. I have a barrel pick of their bourbon, and it tastes like apples, caramel, brown sugar, and cloves. It's fantastic. I've had their Balboa and Backsetter Ryes as well and both were very good. I wish they'd do a new batch of the Backsetter.

I've been a New Riff fan since I bought this cool-looking $30 bottle of a BIB bourbon I'd never heard of at Sam's Club. I've had one single-barrel bottle ,but didn't enjoy it as much as the standard BIB. We enjoyed a tour at the distillery last fall and I have yet to open the single barrel rye I brought home. After hearing your remarks, that'll probably change soon.

New Riff has quickly become a favorite as well. I try to keep them on my shelves at all times. I don’t have Trenton’s collection but have the bourbon, SB bourbon, rye, SB rye and the malted rye. If I lived closer to the distillery I think I would give ole Trenton a run for his money!

First tried some NR straight bourbon earlier this year and was really blown away by it. Didn’t have high expectations and it definitely delivered huge. I really can’t wait to get in to their ryes cause I’m very much so a rye guy

I absolutely love New Riff! The starters are about $45 and the Single Barrels (100 proof) are about $55. The 6-Year Malted Rye is about $65. And I have to say that the 6-Year Malted Rye has a note that reminds me of Sagamore Double Oaked! I have yet to find a Cash Strength or the 8-Year offerings but am keeping my out! Full disclosure: I am a bourbon guy first but love the SB Rye more than the SB Bourbon from New Riff!

The bottled-in-bond bourbon should SRP at $40, the bib rye SRPs at $45, and the single barrels have an SRP about $53. At one of their 10-year anniversary events this past spring I was able to try their bourbon at 5 years, 6 years, 7 years, 8 years, and 9 years, and it did consistently get "better" with each year of age. Edges softened and the overall tones got richer without ever getting heavy or dark. Beautiful expressions.

I got a NR Single Barrel when I was in KY last year and it quickly became my favorite pour. They are supposed to start shipping to NC, so that makes me happy. We're planning a trip back up that way next year, so we'll visit the distillery then.

New Riff Malted Rye is great. It's like Angel's Envy Rye, but without the overpowering sweetness but plenty of body. My cigar club actually did a New Riff single barrel pick, and it's outstanding. I love New Riff, and it's easily in my top 5 distilleries. New Riff Rye also makes for a great Manhattan

Have only tried New Riff single barrel and wasn’t impressed with it. Yes barrels can be wildly different so will be giving them another try at some point. And the price point is good. I’m a big rye fan so I’ll probably go with the rye bib next time. Enjoy!!
