This should be a Top Gear or Grand Tour production with Clarkson the Hamster Chris Harris or even Tiff on the runway with all the bells and whistles but it is so so much better that it’s Jonny presenting this car and talking with the owner and the test driver. Jonny produces the best car stories around from barn finds to this. It’s just extraordinary. Thanks for such a wonderful piece of motoring journalism. By the way how fast did you go?

You might not want to give him the credit he deserves because he is playful on the internet, but the man single handedly transformed the automotive space in a way that's never been seen before in a century. His story really is extraordinary and I can hardly fathom what it's like to drive. But the adjustability of that torque vectoring, with four totally independent wheels, is what really fascinates me about the Concept_One and Nevera, in terms of its potential and how infinitesimally tunable the car's balance must be.

Bridge shot is probably supplied by Rimac. It is the bridge from the island of Pag, just north of Zadar, Croatia. Many manufactures are presenting cars on the roads of that island and that bridge. I remember Mercedes A class and Porsche. There is also Grand tour with Jeremy Clarkson, I think series 2 not sure which epizode shoot in Zadar and in the vicinity and on that bridge and island. Actual car presentation is from the airport near Zadar. The barren moon like road is the road leading to ferry Prizna-Zigljen from Pag to the mainland under the mountain called Velebit. For Rimac it's a billboard. They're not a hypercar manufacturer first, they're a tech company and high-end EV industry supplier that uses hypercars to promote their in-house technology (as seen in Porsche EVs, Koenigsegg and Aston Martin hybrids, etc.). They want car manufacturers to ask them to put features seen here into their higher-volume production models in some form.

He might had have some issues with the video since at 0:40 you can even hear doubling of audio. Maybe he lost the good audio and had to use the back up and as it was the back up audio, it wasn't possible to amplify it without losing quality. Same with 7:34 I would assume thats no lapel audio. so again he has used the back up audio on the go pro or whatever he is using.

I was thinking the same. Normally I find supercars boring and for teen boys smelling of Axe but Koeningsegg and Rimac are supercars going warp speed into (car) nerd territory, and I mean that in the most positive sense! Watching the videos of Koeningsegg about their timing and valve system for example just excites me to the core but electric cars like these going beyond imaginable limits is just as inspiring.

@RustOnWheels
@RustOnWheels 3 жыл бұрын
@Amarjit Singh Dhesi I made a snarky joke. I know Lotus and their absolutely stunning (Racing) heritage and pedigree. But personally I’m totally NOT into fast, best, supercar et cetera. I geek out about things like computer controlled valves that means you can map the engine anyway you like. And I am obsessed about electric cars and their progress. Trust me, if I were rich I’d ditch all my ICE’s and put electric in everything. Yes, also my really old cars. So yeah that’s why I tried to say: I’m totally NOT interested in any racing car, supercar or what have you, EXCEPT Koenigsegg and Rimac and all the people converting classics into electric and such. I’m a nerd, not a boy racer. :)
@RustOnWheels
@RustOnWheels 3 жыл бұрын
@Amarjit Singh Dhesi I don’t think anybody at Lotus will lose sleep over this. I also don’t think they need a nobody ‘defending’ them. I appreciate your passion but some people just have completely different passions. That’s all. 😉

This is possibly my new favourite video of yours Jonny. I loved the purity of your reaction! I also loved the clear and absolute passion of Mate for the car. Absolutely incredible that not one single part was off the shelf. That absolutely blew my mind. Yes, no doubt Twitter will be full of comments that it’s a ridiculous and unnecessary vehicle. But it’s an absolute passion project. It’s a poster car. Children will dream of EVs because of cars like this. It’s art. One question for you. You said it had “some luggage space”. Go on. How much? This video alone justifies you striking out on your own a couple of years ago. I loved every second of it.

He's going to sell a surprisingly large number of these €2 million cars. Jonny nailed it when he said that this is something that affects an entire country. In fact, I think this is one of, perhaps the most significant thing happening in the European economy at present. The Ioniq 5 that everyone is, rightly, raving about, is based on Rimac technology. A mass market car, that will sell millions, gets its most significant bits from a 10 year old, Croatian, start up. The man is a genius, and he will more or less single-handedly save the European car industry from being eaten alive by Tesla.

I also can't read them quick enough and find the styling / timinng a bit un-friendly for reading in those moments. While there's something to be said for the pause button, great design would allow for reading in a reasonable time without losing focus on the rest of the show. Still want to say they're pretty, and unintrusive :) Problem with them in this video though, is that the figures for this car have so many extra digits! 20 times more torque than anything I'm used to.
