It’s time for an almighty V8 showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the all-new Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s lining up against a BMW M8 Competition & a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door!
So let’s see how these ferocious machines compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 630hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is set to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,067kg. If you want to pick one up, it’ll set you back around £133,000.
Then we have the BMW M8. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this can put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,074kg. It’s slightly more expensive than the RS7, with a price tag of £138,000.
Finally, we have the AMG. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 639hp and 900Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,045kg. It’s the most expensive car here, costing around £154,000.
So the AMG has the most power and the least weight! Surely it’ll be a walkover, right? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Hi Mat, if you put the gearbox in Neutral (handbrake on, for safety) you will be able to rev the cars more then 4k. I have my RS7 and Panamera and I have discovered this myself. All the best with the sound reving/exhausts tests.

Another win for Matt, what a surprise. Also, the explanation of the hand drop doesn't change the fact that it's stupid. Hand drops leave too much room for error. They should use lights or they can just use a Vbox , so it doesn't matter if someone leaves earlier than another driver, just use the data for all the tests.

Here's a tip for at, least VW group for the soft limiter, if the car is rolling (+/-5kmh) and you pop in to neutral, than you're gonna override the soft limiter, as long as you're moving the soft limiter is off!

Nice video but it is a bit frustrating as an GT63s owner, I have GT exactly same as in the video and this is not the full power of this beast ,the one in the race has a problem with boost and turbos one of them is not working well and I had the same problem before in mine and I already fixed it, it's more like a manufacturing problem in almost all GT63s 4-door, also you see at 16:29 in the middle gauge it should be 900Nm stable when full throttle not less with 1Nm at all, As an AMG owner and On behalf of all AMG lovers we demand carwow team to bring another clean and healthy GT63s and do this race again!!!

not really times vary depending on tyres ,,,on my tuned rs7 c8 i get a 10.3 quart mile or other days a slow 10.6 ..outside temps tyres road surface and all vary. the merc is just not that rapid as guys think, my mate has one as it doesnt blow me away when i go in it...@@Tom_Mroz

I am an AMG fan and yes I'm crying about this one😂😂. No excuses thought, but a good line up would be the M5 cs, Panamera turbo s e-hybrid, Rs7 performance and the GT63s e-perfomance. All face lifts(not so sure about the Porsche).

Something software related or driver error is probably happening in the AMG. The official times for it in every scenario are something like a half second or more faster than the other two. Might be a software thing or the weather, possibly even the tires.

Why. The M5 is a different type of car entirely. The E performance is hybrid. This was the perfect race between competing brands. They just need to throw in the Panamera Turbo S.
