@@e.g.7977 Just because crime is centered in cities (more people, more goods to steal, and fewer police per citizen) doesn't equate to one political party or another. I was at the cinema with a guy that laughed non-stop like the ass clown in this audience. Dude bought a seat between two groups of people he didn't know (that space you leave as a polite buffer) in a cinema that had tons of open seats. Proceeded to act like he's never been out in public before. Finally got some peace when he started vapping and got bounced. It's like come on people, we had reduced outings for 2 years, not 20 years of isolation. Get it the fuck together.

Its a (mild) symptom of what this segment was about. A dumass the likes of which you describe may not be criminal, but is offensively inconsiderate. A sign of general decay of decency that has come a long, long way and it just keeps on piling up with some people to the point, where it crosses into illegality. Like, marching to the Capitol, violently attacking police, breaking into the Capitol to destroy Democracy and while we're there we ransack and loot and shit all over the place...

A couple decades ago, my laugh was enough to make people move away from me in theaters. It sounded maniacal. Very high pitched and fast and it only came out during the horrific scenes like those in the final destination movies. New friends I made would recognize me by my laugh stating things like "You're that guy". I've since learned to control it.

My dad has a cackle like that, but he also has tourette's so I'm not sure how much he can help it. OUTRAGEOUS... It reminds me of the exaggerated - over enthusiastic, clapping by his generals - when Kim Jong-un speaks in North Korea... It began when Bill Maher started having an audience again - and he had his production crew make lots of noise to make it sound as though there were more people than there really were... It has been more than a year - and the very same guys are still there every freekin week... In our house we call them "the trained clapping seals." Incredibly annoying... The only thing that topped it this week, was Mahers' shameless sucking up to Rod Stewart.

Income inequality, systemic racism, authoritarianism on the march, and a badly mishandled pandemic have all contributed to our current lack of societal cohesion. I submit the pandemic exposed some of the more egregious problems within our nation, but one of our two political parties is hell bent on stopping anything constructive from happening while attempting to upend democracy and take over the US. Authoritarian governments do not have any economic acumen: history has shown us this over and over again. Thus, when authoritarian governments take control, they begin to take the wealth and resources of those that have it - typically the very people that put them in power. America is currently on that track.

For the many people complaining about the audience laughing a lot, including in the most socially inappropriate times, there's a reason. 1) Bill's producers encourage them to laugh and 2) There have been many moments throughout this show's history whereby the audience either didn't laugh at a punchline or would "ooh" if Bill said something they felt was too real or uncomfortable and Bill would get at the audience for not laughing. I hear you, it's TV and allowances have to be made. It's just frustrating when Bill is on fire and is constantly interrupted by what seem to be trained seals. It really takes the edge out of his rants when you're consistently reminded that people are having fun and laughing instead of being chastened by what, if spoken organically, would be a vicious but necessary alarm bell or call to arms. You get the feeling Bill is kind of resigned to it. He regularly stops for applause lines and sometimes there are a few moments until the audience reacts when he probably could have kept talking. On the other hand, his next point after making a great one is cut off by the audience, making sure to let him know his writers are geniuses and they feel validated by him. He nods, waits, and then continues, all momentum and flow gone. It's not how we're supposed to listen to a speech, and that's what these are. They're not monologues per se, since the point is to make you think. The audience is mistaking their applause for the action of thinking, distilling their thought down to "that'll piss someone I hate off; time to clap." I just think they're doing it the wrong way if they really want to make people think. That's probably not what they're trying to do. Maybe the whole point is more HBO subscribers. What a lofty goal.

@Bill Maher, sir, you don't need an audience. What made your show compelling and interesting over the last two years, when we were in quarantine, was when the audience was not there. Well, it was you and the staff laughing, but that just made it more intimate. At this point the audience is a distraction. There is always one jack ass in the crowd who has to bray louder than anyone so later they can point out to their friends later "See, hear that? That's me laughing! And that's me again! And that's me again!" Please jettison them in the next few weeks (I understand you may have to honor commitments if you sold any tickets).

Jeez man! That reminds me of the horrendous crime in Wal Mart parking lots. Wal Mart doesn't give a darn about customer safety as long as they keep buying thier products. So they don't use thier money to hire parking lot security guards. I think there should be a law requiring security for brick and morter stores. That can also apply to places with multiple sellers like flea markets, fairs and conventions. Walgreen stores are tiny. Yet even they should have at least one guard.

@@sylviadailey9126 I did armed security for all that other temp stuff. The limited time of hire makes it more fiscally practical. Local laws and regulations come into play as well. Sometimes they are required to have private security or pay for dedicated police details. The major factor with traveling events, they can choose safe, cheap locations with no ordnance requiring private security. I locked up a ton of people shoplifting from Walgreens in the bad lands. In the more stable areas it was armed robbery, ironic.

1:20 As an LA resident I can't laugh at it. Its true, but its both heartbreaking and concerning IRL. Also, my grandfather had to leave his windows unlocked in his work vehicle in Florida in the 80s. This isnt new. I don't remember the real numbers but it was something like $50 to replace the tool box and $75 for the glass window. My father taught me in the 90s not to leave even a penny in sight in a parked car.

@NBA Im sorry, Im confused. A cooking video? I feel bad for the homeless. At the same time on my jogging path on the Orange Line there are homeless people who have open fires (during fire season!) and scream at passerbys.

Ha ha...I lived in Brazil for ten years and I was leaving my car unlocked with the window down for years - broken car door locks are expensive to fix.

That sign the person left on their car window saying "Dear Mr criminal... There's a Walgreens down the street you can hit." Was epic.

ain't it. just imagine if it weren't accepted and promoted by the media. If people were actually stopped and arrested during the summer riots.. instead of Harris telling Colbert they get anyone out who's been detained

Years ago in NYC, maybe the 80s or 90s, when car radios were all about the same, standardized shapes and sizes, there was a lot of smash & grab radio theft. Then came the easily removable stereos(plug n play...pull out and push in, simple), leaving a hole in your dashboard, while the radio sat in your apartment with you. Some cars got smashed windows even then...not very observant thieves wouldn't check the dashboard. NEXT came the "MY CAR HAS NO STEREO" signs inside windshields. Yup...you saw that coming.

I remember those days. I was speaking with an employee of a large box store. She told me, they are taught not to stop shop lifters, even when caught red handed. The reason if the thief gets hurt during apprehension, they will sued the store for hundreds of thousands. Lawyers have some fault in the new world.

@@gradywilson9213 sounds like we need a law that states, "All liability shifts from that of the establishment to that of a current guest or guests of the establishment or individual(s) in proximity to the establishment once said guest(s) or individual(s) commit(s) a local, state, or federal misdemeanor and/or felony crime that results, can result, and/or will result in injury and/or loss to said establishment and/or any current guest of said establishment and/or any employee of said establishment up to and including its owner and/or chief executive."

Welcome to this episode of Reality Meets Eutopian Wokeness, where everything is free (stolen), and you can live safe while doing anything you want (if you're a criminal). Hey, with all this brazen crime occurring, we should implement more laws that restrict the abilities of law abiding citizens to protect themselves for the criminals' benefits. We should probably start by infringing on the Constitutional Rights of law abiding citizens ability to bear arms. Banning guns and high capacity magazines that criminals already possess should help level the playing field. Surely the criminals will start FEELING sorry for us and turn away from their lives of crime to become victims themselves. 🤦‍♂️

@@Commodore22345 I don't know the current statistics on racial crimes or crime related disparities. But I do know that Democrats and the current administration are racist and increasing racial disparities while they simultaneously project their racist acts upon the opposing party and pander to every minority group in existence (especially around election time). For example: Democrats created and support Planned Parenthood (originally named "The Negro Project"), in order to controllinly slow/decrease the Black population through abortion. They have since spread those facilities into every minority neighborhood (except White neighborhoods), which increases racial disparities. Yet, who do the Democrats have fooled into promoting Planned Parenthood for them? They're evil, manipulative and taking advantage of minorities that are too gullible to understand and to emotionally blinded to see the facts!
